Cluster and Location Based Overlay Multicast in Mobile Ad Hoc and Sensor Networks

Hyung-Ok Lee; Ji-Seung Nam; Jin-Han Jeon

We propose a novel overlay multicast protocol over wireless sensor network, CLOM (cluster and location based overlay multicast) which use both cluster based approach and location based approach. A cluster based approach is used to manage multicast group consisting of relatively large number of nodes while a location based approach is used to construct a multicast tree with rapidity and low control overhead by using geometric information taken from GPS device. Additionally, the information of damping area and the scheme for reducing the CH node discovery time and control overhead have been introduced into CLOM to improve the performance of the tree. The simulation results showed that CLOM works properly with low data distribution delay and low control overhead where the number of multicast group members is relatively high.

On Application-Level Approaches to Cloudy Computing Service in Agent-Base Distributed System

Mi-Young Kang; Hyung-Ok Lee; Ji-Seung Nam

An Application-level overlay multicasting for provide cloudy computing service on the Internet for multi-agents sharing application with single sources. A mechanism is proposed by use minimum amount of traffic overhead to get routing information in trees and it is very simple to calculate optimal route compared with conventional scheme in overlay routing protocol. Performance efficient results for real-time, concurrent service is achieved to stream trees with propose scheme. The proposed scheme does well in terms of session connections, especially when multi-agents number grows. Number of hosts against group size after the agent-base distributed processing seems to be the best. Our analysis results show that proposed scheme can support more efficient than conventional routing and reduce the network overhead for the application-level approaches to cloudy computing service.

Hyung-Ok Lee; Yong-Wan Kwak; Seung-Chul Son; Ji-Seung Nam

As recent integration of wire and wireless networks and the convergence of telecommunications and broadcasting, uniform and standardized by the broadcasting operators of existing stations to provide 4A(Any-time, Any-where, Any-device, Any-contents) services for the next-generation of multimedia services research is being progressed. Demand for theses next-generation multimedia services to ensure video compression coding technology, as well as mobility, ability to operation a variety of devices, characteristics and performance of user network and the status and conditiion, user preferences and context-awareness based on the technology has an interest in technical studies. In this paper, the current internet environment, SVC(Scalable Video Coding) encoded by a mixture of multicast and overlay multicast transmission technology for broadcasting services by designing and efficient multimedia broadcasting system is proposed. In addition, ACK-Aow Optimization by overlay multicast scheme existing tree-based overlay multicast, and by comparing the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated.

Overlay Multicasting with Local Swap Option in a Personal Broadcasting System

Mi-Young Kang; Hyung-Ok Lee; Ji-Seung Nam

Overlay Multicast is an effective method for optimal utilization of system resources and network bandwidth without a need for hardware customization. It is an effective method of providing Personal Internet Broadcasting Service for better Quality of Service to many users. In this paper, we propose a multicast tree that uses Local Swap method. In order to prove the effectiveness of the new technique suggested here, using the proposed method and personal internet broadcasting service, information is abstracted, compared and analyzed under various overlay multicast algorithm conditions. We have proved that the suggested local swap technique is more effective by comparing it with other existing techniques in various methods such as using various overlay based multicast algorithm simulation.
