A LIMITED SHARED OUTPUT BUFFER SWITCH FOR ATM

Hyunjeong Lee; K.H. Kook; C.S. Rim; K.P. Jun; S.K. Lim

In this paper, a new switch architecture is proposed for the ATM exchange. The architecture is a hybrid version of shared and dedicated output buffer memory switches. Namely, the switch consists of a single shared buffer memory and N first in first out (FIFO) buffers, where N is the switch size. An incoming cell to the i-th output port is stored into the shared buffer memory and the corresponding buffer address is stored into the i-th FIFO buffer, where i = 1, 2, N. The addresses in the i-th FIFO buffer are used to read cells from the shared buffer memory and send them to the i-th output port. Incoming cells are converted to bit parallel data and multiplexed in time, which makes the switch realizable using the current available VLSI technology. Analytical and experimental results show that the proposed switch performs not worse than a shared output buffer switch does. The proposed switch needs far less (resp., a little more) memory than that of a dedicated (resp., shared) output buffer switch for a comparable performance. Nevertheless, the implementation of the proposed switch is simple and the broadcasting is very easy, which may be a main drawback of a shared output buffer switch.

A mechanism of ontology-based rule management for smart building energy saving service

Hyunjeong Lee; Youn-Kwae Jeong; Il-Woo Lee

This paper describes a mechanism of ontology-based rule management for building energy saving service. For the purpose of providing ontology-based building energy saving service in buildings, rules are needed to control equipments in buildings. A Rule manager adds new rules and searches, changes and deletes existing rules. This paper describes an ontology-based rule manager to offer energy optimization services for buildings.

Profile-based building energy saving service in green computing environment

Hyunjeong Lee; Jinsoo Han; Youn-Kwae Jeong; Il-Woo Lee

This paper describes a profile-based of building energy saving service in green computing environment. Building profile is used to provide appropriate services for building energy efficiency. As each building has a variety of contextual information, including the buildings properties and circumstances, this paper proposes a method to present profile-based building contextual information and to offer energy optimization services according to each buildings properties.

Energy management services based on home energy grid technology

Hyunjeong Lee; Wan-Ki Park; Il-Woo Lee

In this paper, smart energy management services are illustrated based on home energy grid technology. Smart plugs are used to get the data of the appliances power consumption. First, smart plugs are installed for each appliance in the smart home, detect the data of power consumption, and send them to the home energy grid server. And, the server processes the data to monitor the energy consumption and report the residents. Also, the server provides the interface to control appliances. Using the scheme, users can monitor their energy consumption, and control their appliances to avoid energy leakage.

A redundancy method of AS traffic in signaling gateway using loadsharing scheme

Hyunjeong Lee; Byung-Sun Lee

M3UA supports the transport of any SS7 MTP3 - User Signaling over IP using the services of the SCTP. AS is a notion of M3UA and is a logical entity serving a specific Routing Key, where we use DPC, OPC and CIC ranges as Routing Key in this paper, and ASP is a process instance of an AS. In this paper, we propose a method that SG distributes traffic of AS to multiple active ASPs in the AS using loadsharing scheme. Using our method, we can distribute AS traffic efficiently.

An energy management framework for smart factory based on context-awareness

Hyunjeong Lee; Sang-Keun Yoo; Yong-Woon Kim

In this paper, an energy management framework for smart factory is illustrated based on context-awareness. The smart factory is composed of the three layers, and IoT sensors are deployed in the smart factories and used to collect many kinds of data including personnel, equipment, and environment. The first layer, the data collection and control layer, collects and sends environmental and control data to the second layer. And, the second layer, energy management based on context-awareness layer, analyses the data and infers the context from them. Finally, the energy service layer provides energy management services to users through monitoring and controlling the status of energy consumption. Using the proposed scheme, users can monitor their energy consumption, and control their utilities and equipment to avoid energy leakage.

Design and implementation of an energy trading model for smart factories

Hyunjeong Lee; Sang-Keun Yoo; Yong-Woon Kim

This paper describes an energy trading model for efficient energy saving and management services. The energy consumers and suppliers in smart factories can trade their energy using the proposed model. First, the market participants register their information and select the roles of the energy suppliers or the consumers. They can change the roles depending on the situation. And the energy suppliers register the energy resources to the market server. And many energy consumers can apply the appropriate tender. When the bidding time ends, the market server calculates and determines the bidding results, and sends them to the bidding participants. According to the results, the consumer who received the winning bidder can use the energy during the appointed time. Using the proposed model, the suppliers and the consumers can easily trade the energy of smart factories, and can save the cost by trading the remained energy with reasonable prices. Also, the nation achieves the overall cost savings for energy by the balance of demand and supply.

Modeling of manufacturing software catalogue for interoperability in manufacturing systems

Sang-Keun Yoo; Hyunjeong Lee; Yong-Woon Kim; Hoon Choi

This paper proposes a way to describe the capability of software of manufacturing systems that can be mapped to the functional requirements of target manufacturing application for interoperability. For this objective, this paper specifies how to develop and manage software catalogue in terms of capability properties, and defines mapping rules from capability profiles to software catalogue.

Design and implementation of energy application services for energy management technology

Hyunjeong Lee; Moonok Choi; Wan-Ki Park; Il-Woo Lee; Sang-Ho Lee

This paper describes energy application services for energy management technology. To save energy, walking commute and using stairs are considered. Various sensors are used to measure the distance of walking and the saved energy is calculated using the measured data. Using the proposed mechanism, users can easily recognize the saved energy by energy saving action, and result in energy cost saving.

Camera monitoring service for mobile devices in ubiquitous computing environment

Hyunjeong Lee; Jung-sik Sung; Young-Sik Chung; Euihyun Paik

Camera monitoring service is useful for security, caring service for the old and the week, disaster prevention, and so on. In this paper, we discuss the service scenario to support various devices and its issues in ubiquitous computing environment. Also, we propose a framework for camera monitoring service for supporting mobile devices in ubiquitous computing environment.
