Increase of wear resistance of steel plates for crushing stations

I. N. Erdakov; V. M. Tkachev; V. V. Novokreshchenov

The article discusses the peculiarities of the formation of the plate structure made from high-manganese steel and ways to increase its service life under the conditions of shock-abrasive wear on crushing stations of the ferroalloy industry. The failure of existing technological processes for manufacturing crushing stations was revealed and new process, characterized by resource-saving factors, was proposed. Based on the method of the planned experiment, the regression equations of the technological process were made and their parameters were optimized. The duplication of the technological process efficiency upon a 20% increase in the product wear resistance was achieved as a result of experimental investigations.

Magnesium alloys are widely used in aerospace vehicles and modern cars, due to their rapid machinability at high cutting speeds. A novel Edgeworth–Pareto optimization of an artificial neural network (ANN) is presented in this paper for surface roughness (Ra) prediction of one component in computer numerical control (CNC) turning over minimal machining time (Tm) and at prime machining costs (C). An ANN is built in the Matlab programming environment, based on a 4-12-3 multi-layer perceptron (MLP), to predict Ra, Tm, and C, in relation to cutting speed, vc, depth of cut, ap, and feed per revolution, fr. For the first time, a profile of an AZ61 alloy workpiece after finish turning is constructed using an ANN for the range of experimental values vc, ap, and fr. The global minimum length of a three-dimensional estimation vector was defined with the following coordinates: Ra = 0.087 μm, Tm = 0.358 min/cm3, C =

8.2973. Likewise, the corresponding finish-turning parameters were also estimated: cutting speed vc = 250 m/min, cutting depth ap = 1.0 mm, and feed per revolution fr = 0.08 mm/rev. The ANN model achieved a reliable prediction accuracy of ±1.35% for surface roughness.

A Mechanism of Interaction of Metal Oxides with Carbon

I. V. Ryabchikov; V. A. Pashnyov; D. Yu. Pimenov; P. V. Fekolin; I. N. Erdakov

Given the stiff competition that exists in the current market, the quality and speed with which orders are executed are of decisive importance in gaining the advantage over other market participants. The automated design of technologies for making cast semifinished products and real-time correction of their parameters at the design stage are among the prerequisites for successfully competing in today’s metallurgical industry. An actual production process used to make cast steel semifinished products is analyzed in the system ProCAST to illustrate the possibility of reducing the amount of time that has to be spent on designing the casting equipment.

Minimization of turning time for high-strength steel with a given surface roughness using the Edgeworth–Pareto optimization method

A mechanism is provided for interaction of metal oxides with carbon. As in solid fuel combustion, this reaction is a complex multistage process with participation of atomic oxygen. The mechanism of metal reduction in its initial stages includes chemical reactions coupled with each other. It is shown that the mutual effect of these reactions increases with an increase in reagent surface contact and the proportion of the carbon oxidation reaction by atomic oxygen. Prospects for producing siliceous ferroalloys from a briquetted charge are given in the work.
