Reconfigurable Computer Systems Based on Virtex-6 and Virtex-7 FPGAs

Igor Kalyaev; Ilya I. Levin; A.I. Dordopulo; L.M. Slasten

Abstract In the paper we consider computational modules Saiph and Rigel designed on the base of Xilinx Virtex-6 FPGAs and a computational module 24V7-750 based on Xilinx Virtex-7 FPGAs which is now in the design phase. The computational modules are intended for creation of reconfigurable computer systems (RCS) of various configurations. We compare technical characteristics of the considered CMs and describe a software suit for RCS programming, based on a high-level programming language. Use of this language provides simplicity of programming and helps to reduce the time of development of applications for tasks from various problem domains.

Decentralized Approach to Control of Robot Groups During Execution of the Task Flow

Igor Kalyaev; Anatoly Kalyaev; Iakov Korovin

The current paper covers the solution of the problem of decentralized control of a network-centric group of heterogeneous robots (robots of various types), that have various functional capabilities, during collective execution of complicated tasks received from consumers in a priori unknown moments of time. Here, the complicated task is the task which requires performance of a certain set of various interconnected operations for its execution. In the paper we describe methods of multi-agent adaptive distribution of operation of complicated tasks between the robots of the network-centric group according to their current condition and functional specialization. The methods are based on interaction of program agents which represent interests of the individual robots of the group during distribution of operations of the incoming tasks.

Method of Spheres for Solving 3D Formation Task in a Group of Quadrotors

Donat Ivanov; Sergey Kapustyan; Igor Kalyaev

Formation task in a group of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is a very important problem in a multi-robotics. The paper contains a brief analysis of existing methods for formation task in groups of robots. A new method for solving formation task in a group of quadrotors is proposed. The method make it possible to ensure accurate compliance with distances between quadrotors in the formation, as well as featuring low computational complexity.

High Performance Reconfigurable Computer Systems on the base of FPGA technology

Igor Kalyaev; Ilya I. Levin; L.M. Slasten

Abstract The paper covers the problems of design and creation of high performance reconfigurable computer systems based on FPGA technology. Authors compare performance values of up-to-date cluster systems and original reconfigurable computer systems, suggest principles of design of modular scalable reconfigurable computer systems with high real performance and give examples of various implementations of such systems. In addition, principles of applications development are suggested. Also the paper covers the problems of reconfigurable system programming. There is viewed an original complex of system software for reconfigurable system programming.

An effective algorithm for multiagent dispatching of resources in heterogeneous cloud environments

Anatoly Kalyaev; Igor Kalyaev; Maxim Khisamutdinov; Iakov Korovin; Gerald Schaefer

In this paper, we deal with the problem of adaptive dispatching (distribution) of resources in a cloud computer environment (CCE). In particular, the CCE comprises heterogeneous computational resources and we consider the implementation of a flow of large-scale scientific tasks consisting of a set of information-dependent subtasks that enter the CCE at random times. We present an effective method for multiagent dispatching of CCE resources that can be employed when CCE resources have different performances for different tasks and different channel bandwidths for connecting with cloud infrastructure. We give a formal definition of the problem of CCE dispatching for these conditions and suggest principles of its solution using a set of program agents that are physically implemented on separate CCE resources and that represent their “interests” during dispatch. We introduce the developed algorithm of a program agent as a multiagent dispatcher providing adaptive distribution of all currently free CCE computational resources among the tasks of the flow, taking into consideration their real performances and channel capacities. We further present experimental results obtained using a program model of a heterogeneous CCE.

High-performance reconfigurable computer systems

Alexey Igorevich Dordopulo; Igor Kalyaev; Ilya I. Levin; Liubov Slasten

The FPGA-based reconfigurable computer systems have high real performance and provide practically linear growth of performance when hardware system resource is growing. The paper deals with design features, technical characteristics and values of real performance of computational modules of reconfigurable computer systems, designed on the base of Virtex-6 FPGAs. In addition, a software suit, intended for development of parallel applications for the RCS, is considered.
