Ground motion intensity parameters are used to express the relationship between expected structural damage and the seismic forces imposed. The graphical representation of damage probability as a function of ground motion intensity leads to fragility curves that are generally used in loss estimation studies. The most typical parameters used to represent the ground motion intensity are peak ground acceleration, peak ground velocity, spectral acceleration, and spectral displacement. Other parameters obtained from the ground motion trace and response spectra have been recommended in literature, but no consensus on which intensity parameter to use exists because of the various drawbacks of these ground motion intensities. A new spectrum ground motion intensity parameter that relies on the expected elongated period of the structure under seismic forces has been developed. AbstractThis study was organized to derive an analytical expression for the estimation of plastic hinge length for cantilever structural walls using the results of comprehensive nonlinear finite-element analyses. For that purpose, a parametric study was conducted. The variation of plastic zone length at the base of the cantilever shear wall models was determined on the basis of analysis results that depend on several parameters, such as the wall length, wall height, axial load ratio, and the ratio of wall boundary element and the web horizontal reinforcement. In light of the parametric investigation, a plastic hinge length expression was proposed dependent on wall length, axial load ratio, wall horizontal web reinforcement ratio, and shear-span-to-wall-length ratio. Halen gecerli olan Deprem Yonetmeliginde onerilen birim sekil degistirme hasar sinir degerleri, teknik literaturde mevcut onde gelen calismalardan alinmakla birlikte, bu degerlerin yer degistirmeye dayali tasarim ve degerlendirme yontemlerinde kullanilan analitik arac ve yontemlerle performans duzeyini tanimlamak icin uygun olup olmadigi tam olarak sinanmamistir. Duzlem kesitlerin deformasyondan sonra da duzlem kaldigina dayanan moment-egrilik hesaplamalari, ozellikle betonarme perdeler icin sorun teskil etmektedir. Dolayisiyla onerilen hasar sinir degerlerinin betonarme perdeler icin gecerliliginin arastirilmasi icin kapsamli bir calismaya ihtiyac duyuldugu gorulmektedir. Bu calisma iyi kalibre edilmis bir sonlu eleman modelleme yaklasimi kullanarak dikdortgen kesitli betonarme perdelerin otelenme, kesit donmesi ve egriligi, perde uclarindaki beton ve donati birim sekil degistirmeleri arasindaki iliskiyi incelemektedir. Deprem Yonetmeliginde ve bazi diger hesap kilavuzlarinda verilen sekil degistirme ile ilgili hukumlerin gecerligi irdelenmektedir. Perde elemanlari icin mevcut degerlerden daha dogru olduguna inanilan modelleme parametreleri ve kabul kistaslari teklif edilmektedir
