Advantages of the CCD Camera Measurements for Profile and Wear of Cutting Tools

Gyula Varga; Zsuzsanna Balajti; Illés Dudás

In our paper we prepared an evaluating study of which conclusions draw mainly two directions for our fields of research. On the one hand, this means the measuring of fix, standing workpieces, on the other hand this means geometrical measurement of moving tools. The first case seems to be solved in many respects (in general cases), but the second one is not completely worked out according to the relevant literature. The monitoring of tool wear, the determination of geometrical parameters (this is mainly in case of gear-generating tools) is not really widespread yet, mainly, if optical parameters have influence on the evaluating procedure (e.g. examination of profiles of grinding wheels). We show the elaboration of a process for the practical application of measuring techniques performed by image processing CCD cameras on the basis of wearing criteria of different cutting tools (drilling tool, turning tool). We have made a profile and cutting tool wear measuring program.

3D Topography for Drilled Surfaces

Gyula Varga; Illés Dudás

Nowadays more and more scientific papers deal with drilling. The drilling process has been used for more than 5000 years and the development of conventional drills is more than 200 years old. In recent years there have been limited changes to the drill design but considerable improvements have been made in the selection of drill materials, drill coatings, flute design and cutting fluid guiding methods. The paper briefly describes the development of surface characterisation including its current 3D capability. It shows how selected parameters can assist with drill process analysis and how this can be supported through the introduction of the planned new ISO International Standard for 3D Surface characterisation. The paper is supported by a sample drilling test to demonstrate the power of the proposed analysis.

The Production Geometric Analysis of the New Type, Spiroid Worm Gear Drive Having Arched Profile

Illés Dudás; Sándor Bodzás

In the last few decades in Hungary, the Budapest University of Technology and Economics and the University of Miskolc have been intensively focusing on the research field of worm gear drives [2, 5].Our results at the University of Miskolc have also been published in a book published in the USA as well [2].A new geometric worm gear drive has been developed, that is the conical worm gear drive having arched profiled in axial section [3].The aim of our publication is to present the advantages, the geometric questions and the possible application fields of this new type worm gear drive.Copyright

3D topography for environmentally friendly machined surfaces

Illés Dudás; Gyula Varga

Nowadays more and more scientific paper deals with drilling. In recent years there have been limited changes to the drill design but considerable improvements have been made in the selection of drill materials, drill coatings, flute design and the cutting fluid guiding methods. All of these improvements have been introduced to improve the surface finish of the drilled hole, reduce the energy during drilling process and to reduce ecological damage to the cutting fluids, which carry away heat and debris from the cutting zone. The paper briefly describes the development of surface characterization to its current 3D capability. It shows how selected parameters can assist with drill process analysis and how this can be supported through the introduction of the planned new ISO International Standard for 3D surface characterization. The paper is supported by a sample-drilling test to demonstrate the power of the proposed analysis.

Manufacture of helicoidal surfaces in modern intelligent integrated systems

Illés Dudás

This chapter focuses on the use of intelligent integrated systems (IIS) to handle the manufacturing of helicoidal surfaces. Intelligent automation of the manufacture of worm gear drives has come about because of the requirements of modern manufacturing. The design and manufacture of high-power transmitting worm gear drives have always raised problems. Subsequent to the development of spur cylindrical gear drives, there has been an increasing demand for different types of drives with kinematic drives (both for intersecting and for skew axes), ever-increasing transmission power capability, and reduction of noise level between the interacting surfaces. Most up-to-date computer numerical control (CNC)-controlled thread-grinding machines are suitable for manufacturing a given type of thread surface within a well-defined range of dimensions.

Designing, Modelling, Geometric and Noise- and Vibration Analysis of New Type Spiroid Worm Gear Drive

Illés Dudás; Sándor Bodzás

We have carried out a new geometric type spiroid worm gear drive having arched profile in axial section. We prepare the computer aided model (CAD) of this gear drive for other geometric and production analysis. The objectives of the publication are measuring of this spiroid worm using three coordination measuring machine and after doing noise analysis of this gear box.

Analysis of a Big Joint Implant

Renáta Monostori; Illés Dudás

Deteriorate of prosthesis can be defined as the mechanical wear of the components moving on each other. It occur the change of the rise and the shape of the component. This load can be depend on the extent of the load, the material of the component, the thickness of the polyethylene layer, the smoothness of the machining, the hardness of the surface of the head component and also on the implantation method. A 26-28 mm head diameter can be optimal and the upper level of the allowable polyethylene wear per year is 0.1 mm. It is not easy to determinate the usability of the different types [.

Connection Theory of Conical Worm Gear Drives

Sándor Bodzás; Illés Dudás

We worked out a mathematical modell for the production geometry and mathematical analysis of spiroid worm gear drives. This modell is adapted for analysis of spiroid worm gear drives with random profile. Using this modell it could be possible for defining of the equations of cog surfaces, the surface normal vector, contact curves and connection surface in one concrete case.

Two Special Cases of the Holonic Manufacturing System

K. Bányai; Z. Mándy; Illés Dudás

The concept of holonics manufacturing systems (with divided intelligence) is the most intelligent, autonomous, elastic, units collaborating with each other. The idea takes as a starting point the fact that the todays environmental circumstances are exceptionally unsettled; there is need for companies with the ability to respond quickly to maintain competitiveness. Holonic manufacturing systems (HMS) have been recognized as a paradigm to accommodate changes and meet customers’ requirements flexibly based on the notion of the holon, flexible and decentralized manufacturing architecture. Koestler proposed the word “holon” to describe a basic unit of organization in biological and social systems. A holon is an autonomous, co-operative and intelligent entity able to collaborate with other holons to process tasks. Autonomy and cooperation are two important characteristics of holons. In this study, we investigated a Holonic Manufacturing Systems for dry-working machine group.

Designing of Smoother Hob

Sándor Bodzás; Illés Dudás

It is important to know the main characteristics of production geometry of the hob for the precise and appropriate quality production, since the various cog wheels, worm gears are produced with this tool. The hobs have complicated geometry and are expensive tools so the production is very expensive.
