Synthesis and Structures of Triorganotelluronium Pseudohalides

Thomas M. Klapötke; Burkhard Krumm; Peter Mayer; Holger Piotrowski; Ingo Schwab; Martin Vogt

The syntheses of [(CH3)3Te]X {X = N3 (1), OCN (2), SCN (3), SeCN (4), [Ag(CN)2] (5)} and [(C6H5)3Te]X {X = N3 (6), SeCN (7), [Ag(CN)2] (8)}, their NMR spectroscopic data, vibrational spectra and single crystal structures are described. Compounds 1−4 are the first trimethyltelluronium pseudohalides, while the known compounds 6 and 7 have been prepared for completion of their analytical and structural properties. The occurrence of intermolecular Te···N, Te···O, Te···S and Te···Se contacts is thoroughly studied. The dicyanoargentates 5 and 8 were obtained in an attempt to prepare telluronium cyanides. Low-temperature 13C NMR spectroscopy of the [Ag(CN)2]− ion in solution has been carried out, with determination of the 13C−107/109Ag coupling. The First Selenonium Azides and a Selenonium Selenocyanate

Thomas M. Klapötke; Burkhard Krumm; Peter Mayer; Holger Piotrowski; Kurt Polborn; Ingo Schwab

The reaction of [R3Se]I (R = CH3, C6H5) with silver azide resulted in the formation of [(CH3)3Se]N3 (1) and [(C6H5)3Se]N3 (2); these are the first selenium—azide species to be obtained in pure form. A similar reaction with silver selenocyanate yielded [(CH3)3Se]SeCN (3), an example of a mixed valence selenium compound. Thorough characterization by multinuclear NMR and vibrational spectroscopy and crystal structure determination has been carried out.

Developments on the Chemistry of Tellurium and Selenium Azides

Burkhard Krumm; Thomas M. Klapötke; Ingo Schwab

Abstract We have been carrying out systematic studies on the preparation and properties of tellurium halide and pseudohalide compounds with a focus on tellurium azides. We were successful in the synthesis of various tellurium azides of both covalent and ionic nature. Several tellurium(IV) azides, tellurium(II) azides, and the first tellurium(VI) azides can be prepared in reasonable amounts. The first structural information of selenium azides is obtained for covalent and ionic derivatives, and spectroscopic data for the existence of selenium(iv) polyazides.

Lithium dicyanoargentate(I) acetonitrile disolvate

Thomas M. Klapötke; Burkhard Krumm; Peter Mayer; Matthias Scherr; Ingo Schwab

The structure of the title compound, poly[diacetonitriledi-μ-cyano-lithium(I)silver(I)], [AgLi(CN)2(CH3CN)2]n, shows infinite chains of the anionic silver dicyanide unit connected by an Li atom, which is itself coordinated by two further acetonitrile groups.
