Etude numérique de l'interaction houle/brise-lames franchissables

ABSTRACT Low-crested rubble-mound breakwaters are designed to reduce the incident wave energy through a series of wave transformation processes: reflection, breaking, dissipation inside the porous media. The present study consists of the numerical simulation of the hydrodynamic behaviour of this type of structures using a bidimensional numerical model based on the Reynolds equations. The model, named COBRAS (Liu et al., 1999), includes a k-ϵ turbulence model and a “Volume Of Fluid” technique for free surface tracking. Laboratory tests, including a flow recirculation system, have been performed in order to calibrate and validate the numerical data. Different incident wave conditions and structure geometries have been considered. The model is found to reproduce accurately the wave/structure interaction phenomena and allows the analysis of the flow conditions on and in the structure.

Résumé Les brise-lames franchissables sont conçus pour atténuer l’énergie de la houle incidente, par réflexion, déferlement et dissipation à l’intérieur de l’ouvrage. L’étude développée ici consiste en la simulation du comportement hydrodynamique de ce type de structures au moyen d’un modèle numérique bidimensionnel qui résout les équations de Reynolds. Le modèle, appelé COBRAS (Liu et al.), inclut un modèle de turbulence k-ε et une technique « Volume Of Fluid » pour le suivi de la surface libre. Le modèle numérique, calibré et validé à partir de mesures expérimentales, reproduit avec précision les phénomènes d’interaction houle/structure et permet d’analyser les conditions d’écoulement au voisinage et à l’intérieur de l’ouvrage poreux.
