Optimization of an engine coolant radiator for vehicle thermal management

The European Commission (EC) as well as the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published legislations to regulate vehicle related emissions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in order to reduce global warming. The Worldwide harmonized Light vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) defines a global harmonized standard for determining the fuel consumption of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. Thermal management of the powertrain lowers fuel consumption during the warm-up phase by getting quicker to operating temperature. An efficient heat flow distribution requires components optimized for thermal management.
