Abstract 1.1. Determinations of serum calcium and alkaline phosphatase are of value in establishing the presence of osseous and hepatic metastases in advanced breast cancer. 2.2. Steroid hormone therapy for advanced breast carcinoma produces biochemical alterations in the blood which aid in evaluation of the tumor response to such therapy. 3.3. The serum calcium, phosphorus, nonprotein nitrogen and alkaline phosphatase appear to be important guides in long term hormone therapy of advanced breast cancer.
