The Ergonomic tridimensional analysis (ETdA) was developed to be used as an auxiliary tool on the ergonomic intervention. It was specially designed for commercial areas with free circulation of people. Due to that, the client, the third ETdA dimension, becomes an important element and their opinions relevant in the ergonomic analysis. The remains two ETdA dimensions, professionals and analyst, play an identical role as in the traditional occupational ergonomic analysis. For each of these dimensions, specific observation tools were assembled: an ETdA questionnaire, an evaluation form and a checklist for direct and indirect observations. The variables that allow the ETdA operability are identified as Ergonomic Factors (EFs). A case study is presented identifying, for each dimension, the critical EFs. This will allow the design of the weighting table, where the influence of each dimensions results is measured, stressing the important role of clients on ergonomic issues.

Nowadays, market trade economy is witnessing to a continuous development and transformation. The organizations come to be seen as sociotechnical systems with new ergonomic contexts. Various types of relationships can be established. From the ergonomic analysis point of view, it is necessary to understand all the mechanisms that regulate these relationships. The interaction between clients and professionals (workers) reproduce a relationship that can be important to the ergonomic analysis. This paper allows a better comprehension of the relationship in the effective’s ergonomic intervention. A case study was analyzed in a private health sector using the Ergonomic Three-dimension Analysis as an ergonomic approach. This analysis is made by three different but related dimensions: analyst, professional and client. The results show that that clients’ involvement in the ergonomic analysis will benefit the ergonomic intervention and consequently the professional environment.

This paper aims to describe the development of an ergonomic program based on the principles of Participatory Ergonomics, in order to implement workplace improvements. A case study was conducted in an industrial plant where several musculoskeletal disorders were previously identified as being the main cause of a high absenteeism. As a result of the ergonomic intervention program, several different improvements measures were implemented, improving several workplace aspects, namely workers’ posture and, consequently, their working conditions. The obtained results indicate that there was a significant ergonomic improvement in tasks where the proposed measures have been implemented. The workers’ satisfaction has increased considerably after the implementation of the suggested measures. Finally, it was possible to conclude that based in the success of this project, the same approach can also be extended to the remaining company’s workplaces.

Increasing the maturity in Project Management (PM) has become a goal for many organizations, leading them to adopt maturity models to assess the current state of its PM practices and compare them with the best practices in the industry where the organization is inserted. One of the main PM maturity models is the Organizational Project Management Maturity Model (OPM3®), developed by the Project Management Institute. This paper presents the Information Systems and Technologies organizations outcome analysis, of the assesses made by the OPM3® Portugal Project, identifying the PM processes that are “best” implemented in this particular industry and those in which it is urgent to improve. Additionally, a comparison between the different organizations’ size analyzed is presented.

Nowadays, discussion on global cities concept is been addressed at a European level. The concept is a consequence of the array of globalization processes, adding different analysis layers according to social, economic and environmental requirements, such as, cultural, user-friendly and amenity, assessable, sharing, energy, smart, green or city factory age-friendly cities and communities. Cities should also be analyzed as working systems, with the same needs and requirements in terms of safety and well-being that are considered for other systems. Taking this into consideration, the goal of being a Global City should also comprise the so-called occupational layer. Therefore, it is important, within a city context, to define indicators for Sustainability regarding the occupational Layer. This paper aims to develop a methodology helping cities, at a local level, to define an Index for Industry Sustainable development contributing for the global city model.
