Rephase invariance of KM matrices and CP violation

Isard Dunietz

Conventional parametrizations of Kobayashi--Maskawa (KM) matrices ascribe phases to specific matrix elements. Those phases are unphysical, because they change under phase rotations of quark fields. In contrast, rephase-invariant quantities do not change under those rotations. We present three main topics: (a) a rephasing-invariant parametrization of KM matrices, (b) a rephasing-invariant treatment of CP violation in the neutral B (beauty flavored) and K mesons, (c) possible tests of CP and CPT invariance in experiments on vector resonances UPSILON(4S) and phi. copyright 1988 Academic Press, Inc.

Decay constants of P- and D-wave heavy-light mesons.

Siniša Veseli; Isard Dunietz

We investigate decay constants of P- and D-wave heavy-light mesons within the mock-meson approach. Numerical estimates are obtained using the relativistic quark model. We also comment on recent calculations of heavy-light pseudo-scalar and vector decay constants.

Direct CP violation in b ---> d J / psi decays

Isard Dunietz; Joao M. Soares

We investigate the possibility of observing direct CP violation in self-tagging B-meson decays of the type b -> d J/\psi. The CP asymmetry can be generated due to strong or electromagnetic scattering in the final state, or due to long distance effects. The first two contributions give asymmetries of a few 10^(-3), in the standard model. The long distance effects are hard to estimate, but it cannot be excluded that they yield asymmetries of about 1%.
