Application of MCDA in Selection of Different Mining Methods and Solutions

Dejan Stevanović; Milena Lekić; Daniel Krzanovic; Ivica Ristović

As mine planning is one of the most complicated steps, which depends on a lot of factors as geology, economy etc., consequently, the decision-making process is difficult, due to the existence of a lot of factors for choosing the optimal mining system. In this paper, the method and the result of Analytical Hierarchical Process is presented, shown on a case study – Open pit Drmno, as one of the largest lignite mines in Serbia. The analysis included 6 criteria and two alternatives were applied as Variant 1 and Variant 2. The results show that the suitable mining system for this case study – open pit Drmno is Variant 2.

The paper interprets the calculation of the size of force effects created by the reason of the effect of balled conveyor belt of pipe conveyor to the guide rollers located in the ring idler stations. Knowing them is essential for the research of dynamic resistances by pipe conveyors operations. Examined force effects were determined by the help of finite element methods. The calculation was performed by the program Abaqus. Presented calculation is realized by original calculation model. The results of the calculation present information about action of the effect force of the balled conveyor belt to the guide rolls in the ring idler station. Results became a basis for determination of postulates for identification of dynamic resistances. Their knowledge is the key element for conveyor belts lifetime increase.

Behavior Diagnostics of Bucket Wheel Support Structure Using Finite Elements Method: Optimization of Structures

Predrag Jovančić; Dragan Medenica; Vladimir Milisavljević; Ivica Ristović

Most common types of bucket wheels were analyzed by finite elements method in this paper. Also, relevant diagnostics parameters are defined for various constructions (stress concentration, deformation energy, distribution of potential and kinetic energy for main oscillation shapes). This approach enabled identification of weak spots and selection of such types of bucket wheel which are most suitable for specific working conditions on open cast mine.

Affordable Photogrammetry as Applied in the 3D Modelling and Monitoring of Underground Mining Exploitation and Transport

Ivica Ristović; Milivoj Vulić

The application of photogrammetry, with a particular emphasis on 3D modelling and monitoring, is of interest in the field of underground mining transportation. In the article, a practical assignment concerning the creation of a 3D model with the aid of an ordinary photographic camera and a personal computer, practically conducted by a student with the aid or supervision of a lecturer at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, as a part of the academic process that is, in the effort to instil practical knowledge into students, part of pursuing a mining degree, is described in detail, delineating all the procedures involved, any appearing problems, the means to deal with any appearing problems and the means to employ the obtained 3D model in the future. The aim of creating the 3D model was to demonstrate the convenience of applying photogrammetry in the fields of mining, geology and geotechnology, as well as to introduce a tool that is, in terms of its efficiency, relatively poorly represented in Slovenia and, taking into account its affordability along with its efficiency, to consider its practical application in the mining, geological and geotechnological professions.

Determination of Optimal Parameters of Distributive Gas Pipeline by Dynamic Programming Method

Dusan Danilovic; Vesna Karovic Maricic; Ivica Ristović

Abstract In this article we present a model for determination of optimal parameters of main distributive gas pipelines by dynamic programming (DP) methods. The basic characteristic of this gas pipeline system is that the transported gas quantities are variables. This article presents DP techniques for solving the problem of minimizing investment costs of gas pipeline building. The main objective of this program is to determine the optimal location of compressor station and the optimal diameter of gas pipeline under the constraint of pressure value achievement for all users. The proposed model develops an improved numerical searching technique with the purpose of finding the optimal solution quickly. Applications for this method for optimal parameter determination of gas pipelines and the results are exemplified by the design of a gas pipeline in Belgrade–Valjevo. The model presented will be applied in a feasibility study to define the optimal parameters of a future gas pipeline, South Stream, from the Russian Federation to central Europe.

Parametric adjustment of a junction triangle in terms of the precise construction of haulage drives in underground mines

Aleksandar Ganic; Ivica Ristović; Dragan Djordjevic; Milivoj Vulić

In total costs of ore mining, haulage participates with 30-60%; the total number of workers engaged in the transportation exceeds 35%, while the participation of transportation in the total power consumption amounts to over 40%. All these values indicate that transportation is one of the most signifi cant challenges in the underground mining of ore deposits and that haulage analysis is very important both in selecting the haulage type and its design, utilization and maintenance. In addition to various technical mining parameters, together with mining and geological conditions, haulage effi ciency depends on the selection of optimal haulage drives, which can be achieved by accurately connecting the underground mine workings with mine network points on the surface of a site. The selection of the best mine haulage routes is one the most critical tasks in mine surveying. This paper shows how to adjust a junction triangle on a working level using the parametric adjustment method.
