Open-ended NRD waveguide antenna array

J. A. G. Malherbe

An antenna array consisting of an array of coupled open-ended NRD waveguides is described. The radiation properties of an element of the array and the array are predicted analytically and compared to measurements.

Design of Ultra Wideband TEM Horns

J. A. G. Malherbe

This paper discusses the design of ultra wideband TEM horns that make use of an elliptic plate separation profile in addition to an impedance taper. The nature of radiation form the horns is investigated, and based on the insight gained, the initial design is modified to improve performance. Bandwidth ratios of up to 25:1 are predicted.

Periodic transmission line bandstop filter

J. A. G. Malherbe

This paper describes the properties of a radically different type of bandstop filter that makes use a number of parallel stubs that each provides a transmission zero in the stop band. Because of the inherent structure of the network, realizability is improved.
