Abstract Gas chromatographic conditions have been found for the satisfactory analysis of the isomeric diaminobenzenes, the isomeric aminobiphenyls and diphenylamine, the isomeric aminodiphenylamines, and the isomeric 2,2′-, and 2,4′-diaminobiphenyls. Satisfactory conditions were found for the analysis of 3,3′-,3,4′, und 4,4′- diaminobiphenyl as individual components, but not for the analysis of a mixture containing all three isomers.

Summary The authors studied the effect of adding a packed, enlarged-diameter section to a gas chromatographic column. Two columns, identical in all respects except for one having an enlarged section, exhibit markedly different efficiencies. The use of the enlarged section increases the efficiency and also increases the maximum volume of sample which may be handled by the packed column.

Abstract An apparatus for extending the steady state freezing point depression method to small volumes, of the order of 0.3 or 0.4 ml, has been developed. A thermistor is used as the temperature sensing element, in one arm of a Wheatstone bridge. The apparatus is simple and dependable. Accuracies in the order of 2% are easily attainable.
