Abstract We have fully analysed all events with a single electron obtained in an exposure of BEBC to the 350 GeV wide-band neutrino beam at CERN. The data agrees well with expectations based on the calculated ν e flux and assuming μ−e universality. Using both the rate and the kinematic distributions, improved limits are set on ν e → ν X , ν μ → ν e , ν μ → ν τ mixing.

Charged-current neutrino and antineutrino interaction cross sections have been measured in the energy range 10 to 50 GeV using BEBC filled with a neon-hydrogen mixture. At these energies, σ/E was measured to be (0.73±0.08) 10−38 cm2/GeV per nucleon for neutrinos and (0.32±0.06) 10−38 cm2/GeV per nucleon for antineutrinos.

Abstract The cross section ratio of the elastic neutral current reaction νp→νp to the quasi-elastic charged current reaction νn→μ−p has been measured in the kinematical region 0.3⩽q2⩽1.0 (GeV/c)2. The measured value is RM=0.17±0.08. Model dependent corrections are applied, especially for νn→νn contamination, and the result is compared to various models.

Abstract A study is presented of dimuon events from an exposure of BEBC to a wide band ν beam from the CERN SPS. These data double the available statistics on ν induced dilepton events observed in bubble chambers. The relative production rate and V0 yield have been measured and found to agree with previous experiments. The analysis of several kinematical variables shows that the gros features of the data agree with the predictions of the GIM model. Some indication exists that part of the signal could be due to quasi elastic production of the “beautiful baryon”, but the statistical significance is too weak to draw definitive conclusions.
