Abstract A standardized version of the Hamiltonian of the Semimicroscopic Algebraic Cluster Model is presented, by the use of which the spectra of several neighbouring even- and odd-mass nuclei can be parametrized in a consistent way. We extract parameters from the 12 C + α, 14 C + α, 15 N + α and 16 O + α systems and use them to construct the Hamiltonian for 13 C + α by interpolation.

The relation of superdeformed and cluster states of light nuclei is discussed both on the basis of Harveys prescription and in the light of the connection between the shell and cluster model basis established by Wildermuth et al. (1977).It turns out that these two prescriptions associate the same clusterizations in terms of alpha -like nuclei (N=Z=even) with the superdeformed states.
