Air Conditioning Based on Hydroxides with Solar Driving for Low GHG Emissions

OECD countries have reported than bigger energy consumptions are caused by transport and air conditioning systems. Air conditioner technologies show a great amount from electrical energy to thermal conversion. Hydroxides-based air conditioners (HBAC) would be an option for reduce the electrical use for air conditioning. A thermodynamic cycle for a prototype was developed and experimental effectiveness cycle’s components were evaluated. The laboratory operating conditions show a great variation for the coefficient of performance by heat exchanger temperatures. The evaluation for green house gas emissions show for two scenarios was reported. The main conclusion for this paper shows a reduction for GHG using a solar integration into the prototype.
