The anomalous electric field effect in the EPR of CdF2:Gd3+

It is shown that at high electric fields the EPR of CdF2:Gd3+ exhibits features not found earlier for almost ionic gadolinium-doped CaF2 and BaF2 single crystals. These can be ascribed to the semiconducting properties of CdF2:Gd3+. Two possible explanations of the observed phenomena are suggested. Both of these take into account the effects accompanying the current carried through the sample rather than the effect of the applied electric field.
