including the negative pressure region down to the spinodal point. The atomic interaction used is a revised version of the Aziz potential, which reproduces quite accurately the features of the experimental equation of state. The spinodal pressure has been calculated and the behavior of the sound velocity around the spinodal density has been analyzed.

We present a study of phase separation from supersaturated3He-4He liquid mixtures at low temperatures addressing both the degree of critical supersaturation Δxcrand the thermal-to-quantum crossover temperature T* for the nucleation process. Two different nucleation seeds are investigated, namely3He droplets and4He vortex lines with cores filled with3He. We have found that the experimental T* is reproduced when we consider that nucleation proceeds from3He droplets, whereas Δxcris reproduced when we consider4He vortex lines filled with3He. However, neither nucleation configuration is able to simultaneously reproduce the current experimental information on Δxcrand T*.

Within density functional theory, we have studied the solvation onset of Ca in a 4He droplet to which a small number of 3He atoms is being added. In a first step, we have considered the case study of Ca@4He50 to which we have added one single 3He atom. We have obtained the 3He spectrum and probability density distributions. These results are used to infer how many 3He atoms are needed to start coating the Ca impurity in that drop.

We propose a new class of density functionals for liquid 3He based on the Aziz helium‐helium interaction screened at short distances by the microscopically calculated two‐body distribution function g(r). Our aim is to reduce to a minumum the unavoidable phenomenological ingredients inherent to any density functional approach. Results for the homogeneous liquid and droplets are presented and discussed.
