CHIRALITY AS A MAJOR FACTOR IN THE SELECTION OF HIGHLY ACTIVE COMPOUNDS IN PYRETHRINOID SERIES

Jacques Martel

It has already been stressed by us (1) and by others (2) that asymmetric centers of pyrethrinoids are playing a predominant role in the never ending search for compounds even more active than the existing ones. Furthermore as indicated in the title of this lecture the search for highly active compounds may take advantage of a systematic study of chiral changes at the various available asymmetric fragments of the molecule: at the alcoholic part on the one hand, and at the acidic part on the other hand.
