Quelques résultats expérimentaux sur une source d'émission de spectre continu depuis le domaine visible jusqu'aux rayons X

Germaine Balloffet; Jacques Romand; Jean Kieffer

Abstract Results are given on the operation of a novel light source, recently described. It is a three-electrode vacuum spark of a special type, in which the electrical current reaches a high value by means of a coaxial circuit feeding the spark from the storage condenser. The observations show that the continuous spectrum, which extends from the visible to the extreme ultra-violet (80 A), is emitted on the anode material or very close to it, and that its intensity depends on the anode material. The best results are obtained with uranium metal. Emission in the X-ray range has also been observed.

Double Beam Vacuum Spectrophotometer for Far Ultraviolet Investigations

Marie‐Claude Castex; Jacques Romand; Boris Vodar

A spectrophotometer for measuring the transmission of gaseous and liquid samples in the range of 2500 to 1150 A and having a resolution of 0.3 A is described. Tests made show that by using the electronic ratio method a higher accuracy may be obtained than by the optical balancing method. Some spectra are discussed for demonstrating the performance of the spectrophotometer.
