Abstract 3-Halogenoalkoxytributyltin compounds prepared from 1,3-halogenohydrins and tributyltin ethoxyde decompose at 200° leading to the corresponding oxetanes. This reaction is a very convenient method of preparation of this kind of heterocycles. The behaviour of 3-halogenoalkoxy tributyltin with magnesium was investigated: we observed in very good yields the formation of 3-hydroxyalkyltributyltin by an intramolecular process.

Abstract 2-Halogenoalkoxytributyltin compounds have been prepared from tributylethoxytin and 1,2-halohydrins. The thermal degradation and its mechanism are investigated. These reactions offer a convenient way to prepare epoxides.

Abstract The structure of the dibutylstannadioxa cyclic derivatives from 1,3-propanediol has been the subject of many conflicting reports; some authors considering the species to be monomeric and others considering it to be dimeric. The preliminary results of an X-ray determination, show that in the solid state this compound is monomer with the molecules being bonded by strong coordination bonds.

Abstract 4-Haloalkyoxytributyltin compounds are relatively unstable and on heating give the corresponding tetrahydrofuran compounds in quantitative amounts. The 5-haloalkoxytributyltin compounds are more stable but at higher temperatures they also decompose quantitatively to tetrahydropyran compounds. The reactions of these haloalkoxytributyltin compounds constitute a very convenient method of preparation of these types of heterocycles.

Abstract The action of borontrifluoride etherate on methyl isopimarate 7,8 epoxides has been studied. A backbone rearrangement and the obtention of compounds with new skeletons are reported.
