A structure and a design of device were developed to fabricate large-scale active matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) display with good color purity and high aperture ratio. With these technologies, we developed a full color 14.1 inch WXGA AMOLED display. For the integration of OLED on an active matrix a-Si TFT backplane, an efficient top emission OLED is essential since the TFT circuitry covers a large position of the pixel aperture. These technologies will enable up the OLED applications to larger size displays such as desktop monitors and TVs.

We have demonstrated bottom-emission white OLED devices, which have RGBW sub-pixel and high color gamut over 100% NTSC ratio with White-to-Green microcavity technique. Large-Sized AMOLED TV has to show very high quality display images to overcome LCD TV. However, the R, G and B colors filtered by LCD color-filters are not saturated enough. Especially, green emission peak is very broad because blue emission peak is not removed perfectly by green color-filter. Therefore, we fabricate white OLED having saturated green color by adapting microcavity technique. The results of green pixels are (0.211, 0.723) in color coordinates, and the efficiency of green is 15.4 cd/A, which was (0.217, 0.600) and 7.5 cd/A. And the color gamut with microcavity reaches more than 100% NTSC.

Development of a resistivity division driving method for the vertically placed RGB pixels of the eight-domain thin-film-transistors liquid crystal display

A new multi-domain driving technology for a vertically placed RGB pixel structure with subpixels (MB7) was developed. Subpixel A (high-tilt-angle domain) was charged with the data voltage, without any change. The two directly connected thin-film-transistors (TFTs) functioning as a parallel-resistors circuit could reduce the data voltage supplied to subpixel B (low-tilt-angle domain). The amount of voltage drop for subpixel B could be easily controlled by adjusting the TFT channel width ratio between the parallel resistors. Through the use of this new method, a 32-in. HD TFT liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) TV panel with a wide viewing angle was successfully fabricated.

Test ready core design for TeakLite core

Heemin Park; Gyoo-chan Sim; Jae-Hoon Jung; Hong-Shin Jun

This paper describes test ready core design methodology for TeakLite core. Implementation issues and techniques about test access with minimal test pins, scan chain reconfiguration, and UDL test capability are presented. Testability enhancement for development of high quality test vector is also described. As the result, a very high fault coverage of 99.68% has been achieved. We also present the features of test ready TeakLite core.

Development of a new test method for the prediction of TBM disc cutters life

Dae-Young Kim; Ebrahim Farrokh; Jae-Hoon Jung; Jaewon Lee; Sung-Hyun Jee

Wear prediction of TBM disc cutters is a very important issue for hard rock TBMs as number of cutter head intervention. In this regard, some model such as NTNU, Gehring model, CSM models have been used to predict disc cutter wear and intervention interval. There are some deficiencies in these models. This paper developed a new test method for wear prediction for TBM disc cutter and proposed a new abrasion index. In this regard, different abrasivity indices along with their testing methods are explained. A comparative study is performed to develop the predictability of different cutter life evaluation methods and index. The evaluation of the new methods proposed in this paper shows a very good agreement with the actual cutter life and intervention interval length. The proposed tester and index can be easily used to predict the intervention interval length and cutter wear evaluation in both planning and construction stages of a TBM tunneling project.

A fundamental study of slurry management for slurry shield TBM by sea water influence

Dae-Young Kim; Jaewon Lee; Jae-Hoon Jung; Han-Byul Kang; Sung-Hyun Jee

Bentonite swells when it comes into contact with water and makes it a viscous fluid. Thus it is widely used in civil engineering works for waterproofing. Utilizing the properties of bentonite, the slurry shield TBM supports excavated face with pressurized slurry as well as transporting excavated muck. When bentonite is in contact with seawater, due to the change of double layer thickness, its expandability and viscosity are lowered. This may cause problems for excavation stability and muck discharge due to the increase of sea water inflow when Slurry TBM is used under sea water conditions. In this study, the change of slurry condition caused by the inflow of sea water during tunnel excavation with Slurry TBM was investigated and a slurry management guideline was proposed. For this purpose, a laboratory test was carried out based on the slurry management criterions applied in the field, and a method applicable to the field where sea water is affected has been proposed.
