The IMS/SDP Structure and Implementation of Presence Service

Jae Hyoung Cho; Jae-Oh Lee

Nowadays in communication and network business, structure and system are independently constructed with existing IT services and new services (e.g., 3G services) without considering common functions between them. Consequently, the study of standardized Service Delivery Platform (SDP) structure and interfaces can efficiently provide the methodology of existing or new services to users and easier environment for development to service providers. Therefore in this paper, we will find solutions about the SDP structure and then describe the implementation of presence service related to the SDP.

Deploying Application Services Using Service Delivery Platform (SDP)

Jae Hyoung Cho; Bi-Feng Yu; Jae-Oh Lee

Nowadays in communication and network businesses, architectures and systems are independently constructed with existing service or new service deployment without considering common functions and services between them. Consequently, the study of standardized Service Delivery Platform (SDP) structure and its related interfaces is needed to provide the methodology of existing or new services in an efficient way. Therefore, in this paper, we intend to view various solutions about SDP structure with the proposed interfaces which are able to support them, and then recommend various application services which SDP can offer to end users.

An implementation of the SDP using common service enablers

Jae Hyoung Cho; Jae-Oh Lee

The structures and systems of network and communication are independently constructed with existing based-IT service and 3G services without considering common functions between them. Consequently, the study of standardized Service Delivery Platform (SDP) structure and its related interfaces are needed to provide the methodology of existing or new services in an efficient way. Therefore, in this paper, we suggest the structure of common service enablers (i.e., PoC, Presence) for the SDP and show the way of interaction between them. Finally, we will describe an implementation of the components of the SDP using them.

IMS Based PoC Service Deployment

Jae Hyoung Cho; Jae-Oh Lee

The IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) has brought us feasibilities by separating control functions from bearer and services. Multi-Access technology enables us connecting the IMS Core by kinds of network such as wireless, wire-line network and Internet. By IMS Service Delivery Platform (SDP) richness of services have been developed and deployed into realization through its common protocols and interfaces. Push-to-talk over Cellular (PoC) as the outstanding half-duplex Voice over IP (VoIP) application service enables traditional walkie-talkie service over mobile network.. In this paper we will focus on the advantage of PoC service and PoC architecture firstly, and then describes the session flows of PoC service and its simple simulation. At last we make some conclusions.

A Dynamic Routing Algorithm for Management of the IMS Nodes Using SNMP

Jae Hyoung Cho; Jae-Oh Lee

The IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) is used for providing multimedia services to network provider. The IMS is composed of many nodes, depending on their function. According to the status (fault, performance, etc.) of each node, we need to provide dynamic routing algorithm. In this paper, we propose a dynamic routing algorithm for management of the IMS nodes using SNMP based on FCAPS (Fault, Configuration, Accounting, Performance and Security) in the IMS network.

A routing management among CSCFs using management technology

Ji-Hyun Hwang; Jae Hyoung Cho; Jae-Oh Lee

The IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) in ALL-IP based next generation communication environment can offer network/service providers various multimedia services (e.g., voice, audio, video and data etc). The IMS is worthy of notice in that it is possible to make wired/wireless convergence and quick service development. The IMS needs an efficient Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-based routing among Call Session Control Functions (CSCF) in charge of call and session processing. In this paper, we propose a routing management among CSCFs using management technology.

Management Framework Based on a Vending Machine Scenario

Ya-Ting Wei; Jae Hyoung Cho; Jae-Oh Lee

The various applications of Machine-to-Machine (M2M) have already started to emerge in several fields, such as healthcare, smart robots, cyber-transportation systems (CTS), manufacturing systems, smart home technologies, and smart grids. It has opened the door of new prospects for us. M2M communications depend on many technologies across multiple industries, and the technical standardizations for M2M are proceeding in Standards Developing Organizations (SDO). Based management has huge potentials to be used for M2M communication. This paper talks about a scenario of vending machine communication. It base on management framework and adopts the IP Multimedia System (IMS) to M2M realms. First of all, we will introduce M2M communication architecture, then some technology of IMS, at last some application for vending machines.

A Design of Execution Tool for an IPTV Service Deployment

Jung-Ho Kim; Jae Hyoung Cho; Jae-Oh Lee

There are diverse terminal equipments like computer smart phone and tablet PC these days. According to the situation, service providers are developing and serving each Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) services depending on the user’s terminal equipments. However, these developments make inconsistent services and duplicate services causing waste of resources. Therefore, we suggest an IPTV execution tool independent on service deployment at IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). The IPTV execution tool is composed with the part of user’s terminal design and part of Application Server (AS)’s service design. And, this tool reduces the dependence of the terminal platform and allows easy to develop IPTV services.

A Management for the Deployment of PoC Using Dynamic Routing Algorithm in the IMS Nodes

Jae Hyoung Cho; Jae-Oh Lee

Nowadays, by increasing the network traffic in the IMS, the role of Network Management System (NMS) is very important because of limited network resource. It can perform two kinds of routing ways with the capability of static or dynamic routing. In the IMS network, network traffic is very fickle, therefore, a dynamic routing way is more efficient than static routing one because it can make the flow of traffic changeful among nodes in the IMS. In this paper, we suggest a management function of NMS, applying a dynamic routing algorithm in order to manage IMS nodes. Finally, we apply the algorithm by deploying a PoC service, one of the prominent application services in the IMS.
