This paper presents a framework to ensure application interoperability for heterogeneous IPTV client devices with different capabilities by providing application scalability. To support device independent application in IPTV service environment, we suggest a new XML schema (named Scalable Application Markup Language: SAML) based on MPEG-21 DIDL (Digital Item Declaration Language).

In this paper we present a personalized video composition method based on user intention learning. The proposed system generates video clips by choosing users assets such as still images and video clips based on pre-designed templates. The search-and-suggestion technique plays an important role for providing appropriate templates. We mainly focus on the learning mechanism which will be gradually improving through repeated template recommendations. Our prototype demonstrates the feasibility of the proposed approach.

In this paper, we present a real-time logical screen composition scheme which focuses on automatically detecting and tracking quadrangles for screen region. It has novel concept that the detected region is created as a logical screen so that any non-planar region can be designated as various digital signage spaces. In this paper, we also present service scenarios and show service feasibility through implementation. The proposed scheme is expected to help realize various digital signage broadcasting services.

Cloud-based video monitoring system has many advantages and interesting applications. However, it has a critical problem of invading privacy. For example, if cloud servers or transmission channels are attacked, their private data can be leaked to the attackers. If we use well-known encryption schemes such as AES or DES, the security lifetime will increase but it requires additional computational operations and algorithm modules. Therefore, we propose a novel video content protection scheme which can protect private event regions in a video sequence for cloud-based video monitoring services. When specific events have occurred or the high-resolution video needs to be stored, region adaptive transform domain Wyner-Ziv coding scheme is applied.

In an audiovisual scene consisting of high capacity multimedia objects, when a scene change, which an object is inserted, deleted, or replaced in real time by user interaction, is required, the object priority order compositor for an multimedia player according to the present invention performs rendering of objects based on priority order of objects. The compositor searches priority order of objects, and makes it possible to arbitrarily change order of objects and further to perform rendering of only objects requiring reconstruction. Thus, the object priority order compositor provides re-usability and availability of multimedia data. Further, the object priority order compositor renders efficient multimedia data processing possible by providing a user with a dynamic scene.
