Abstract A one-pot synthesis of 4,5,6,7-tetrahydrothiazolo[3,2-a]pyrimidines (IIb) and 5,6-dihydro-4H-imidazo[2,1-b]thiazoles (IIa) have been achieved by the reaction of ketones in the presence of[hydroxy(p-tosyloxy)i odo]benzene with 2-mercapto-3,4,5,6-tetrahydropyrimidine (1a) and 2-mercapto-2-imidazoline (Ib) respectively. This method is more convenient and versatile.
