Educação popular e movimentos sociais na América Latina: o desafio da participação cidadã

The paper examines, through bibliographical research, the challenges currently placed to the Popular Social Movements in Latin America that intend to organize new forms of social struggle. In the current context, one of the biggest challenges for the Latin American people is resist against the intense demobilization of social agenda imposed by hegemonic globalization. Conservative forces emerge more strongly, revealing the interests of financial institutions economic power, combining media and market, and imposing an international political agenda. But, no power is absolute, regardless how strong its structure may be. Thus, the objective of the article is to show that the current situation in Latin America is important for its political experiences, which present alternative of participatory democracy and, also in the production of life via alternative economies.

Juventude, educação e cidadania: os desafios da participação social e política

This article aims to analyze the relationship between youth, political participation and citizenship education. It is known that youth does not constitute a uniform block and needs to be understood in terms of its particularities. Today, youth constitutes a significant group capable of pressuring and influencing the political agenda. In this perspective, we discuss the following question: social and political mobilization of young people today have the potential to produce effective changes in structures socially formed? We focus our analysis on citizen participation carried out by youth from the popular and social movements experienced in Brazil from June 2013. To address this current sociopolitical context, we resumed some relevant aspects of the recent history of organizing youth groups linked to the Churches, Non-Governmental Organizations and social movements.

EDUCAÇÃO INFANTIL DAS CLASSES POPULARES: LIMITES E POSSIBILIDADES / POPULAR CHILDREN’S EDUCATION CLASS: LIMITS AND POSSIBILITIES

O presente artigo e resultado das experiencias advindas do trabalho em Creches Comunitarias na Cidade de Porto Alegre, sobretudo no bairro Lomba do Pinheiro, localizado na regiao Leste da cidade. Partindo deste lugar, pretende-se analisar as politicas publicas para educacao infantil, relacionando-as com a trajetoria politica e historica das Creches Comunitarias, a luz dos referencias teoricos que vem discutindo essa tematica. Para tanto, buscarse-a desvendar, de forma problematizadora, alguns dos limites e possibilidades da construcao de uma Educacao Popular, gratuita e de qualidade das classes populares.
