X XXX X xx xi In regard to metrical organization, the lines all have ten syllables and they are divided by a fixed break into two symmetrical five-syllable hemistichs. A constant phrase stress3 falls on the third syllable of each hemistich, but word stresses, at least in this song, are distributed sporadically. The lines have dactylic endings which are unrhymed except for the fifth and sixth lines where rhyme results from grammatical parallelism.
