Summary Elevation of muramidase activity occurs in the spleens and kidneys of normal mice treated with RES stimulators such as BCG infection, zymosan and bacterial endotoxins. This confirms that the increase in muramidase level in kidneys and spleens of tumor-bearing animals is not directly associated with tumor growth but is the result of stimulation of the RES.
