. Spectrophotometric methods are essential for quantitative dye analysis and are necessary in the identification of unknown dyes. When a dye is on a synthetic fiber substrate, the application of spectrophotometric analytical methods requires removal of the dye from the fiber or dissolution of both dye and 6ber in an appropriate solvent. Various methods for dye analysis on specific synthetic and natural fibers have been previously reported [1, 2]. Those methods described have not been of general applicability for quantitative determinations. Procedures for identification of dyes on natural and synthetic fibers have been reported by a number of workers [3, 4, 5]. These procedures frequently utilize
