This an introductory tutorial in Desktop Publishing. Its aim is to give the student an overview of the different system configurations, hardware and software requirements, printing requirements (what will publishers accept), the use of fonts, (especially of the APL character set) and to demonstrate some of the emerging techniques that can improve the visual quality of documents and publications.
