Porous Epoxy Laminates

Porous upper extremity prostheses prepared using this solvent technique were generally satisfactory to the amputee due to their lightness and coolness. However, when this technique was used to prepare sockets for lower limbs, it was found that the laminates were not sufficiently strong (3). This need for stronger porous laminates for use by leg amputees prompted further investigation. In addition to the criteria already established for fabrication of porous laminates, two more specific goals were set; ( 1 ) a 100% increase in strength with (2) no decrease in porosity.
