Revisional Study on the Genus Mimastra (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Galerucinae). Part 2.

Jan Bezděk

Abstract. Three new species of Mimastra Baly, 1865, are described, illustrated and compared with related taxa; M. strejceki sp. nov. (Indonesia; Java), M. andrewesi sp. nov. and M. nilgiriensis sp. nov. (both India: Tamil Nadu state). Haplosoma longicornis Allard, 1888 and Trichomimastra itoi Takizawa, 1986 are transferred to Mimastra (comb. nov.). For the reason of homonymy, a new name M. jacobyi nom. nov. is proposed for M. longicornis Jacoby, 1892 (nec M. longicornis (Allard, 1888)). The lectotypes are designated for M. arcuata Baly, 1865 and H. longicornis Allard, 1888. The drawings of both male and female genitalia are presented for all species. Mimastra arcuata is reported for the first time from Myanmar.

Revision of the Clytra subfasciata species group (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Cryptocephalinae: Clytrini)

Jan Bezděk

The Clytra subfasciata species group is proposed, to comprise Clytra subfasciata Lacordaire, 1848, C. hajeki Medvedev & Kantner, 2002 and C. kadleci sp. n. (Yemen). The species of the group are characterised by the peculiar shape of the aedeagus, with a dorsal plate separated from the rest of aedeagus by a deep narrow slit. Colour photographs of habitus and drawings of genitalia are provided for all three species. http://www.zoobank.org/urn:lsid:zoobank.org:pub:F6706A76-CD49-4A5A-A109-A6E6C23514A5

Lectotypes are designated for Luperus koenigi Jacobson, 1897 and L. kasikoporanus Pic, 1912.

On the generic names proposed in Chrysomelidae (Coleoptera) by Gustaf Johan Billberg

Jan Bezděk; Maurizio Biondi

The genus names proposed by Billberg (1820a) for Chrysomelidae are reviewed. Mesops Billberg, 1820 is considered an unavailable name. Apelma Billberg, 1820 is confirmed as synonym of Macroplea Samouelle, 1819. Chrysomela concolor Fabricius, 1781, the type species of Isosoma Billberg, 1820, is a representative of Phygasia Dejean, 1836. To save the generic name Phygasia we propose Isosoma as nomen oblitum for Phygasia (nomen protectum). Chrysomela flavipes Linnaeus, 1767 is designated as type species of Lyperus Billberg, 1820 and Lyperus is proposed as new synonym of Luperus Geoffroy, 1762. Galleruca lausoniae Fabricius, 1798 is designated as type species of Adimus Billberg, 1820 and Adimus is proposed as new synonym of Altica Geoffroy, 1762. Galleruca lausoniae Fabricius, 1798 is confirmed as synonym of Altica caerulea (Olivier, 1791).

Revision of Labidostomis (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Cryptocephalinae: Clytrini) with large united elytral spot from Iran and adjacent countries

Jan Bezděk

The Labidostomis Chevrolat, 1936 species with large united metallic spot on elytra from Iran and adjacent countries are revised. Six species, all belonging to nominate subgenus, are recognized: L. elegans Lefèvre, 1876 (Caucasus, Turkey, Iran), L. kantneri Warchałowski, 2004 (Iran), L. limbata (Lacordaire, 1848) (Israel, Syria), L. luristanica Warchałowski, 2004 (Iran), L. shirazica Lopatin, 1979 (Iran), and L. regalini sp. nov. (Turkey). Colour photos of male habitus, mandibles and internal sclerites of aedeagus, as well as drawings of male and female genitalia are provided. Internal sclerites of aedeagus are used for species identification.

Jan Bezděk; Ashraf M. El-Torkey; Hathal M. Al Dhafer

Abstract. Cryptocephalus abdeldayemi sp. nov. is described from the South-West of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Al-Baha province). The new species is similar to C. chikatunovi Lopatin, 2008 from United Arab Emirates and Oman, and C. ajeschae Schöller, 2006 from Yemen. All three species have modified prosternum forming a mouthparts basket. Cryptocephalus chikatunovi is also recorded for the first time from Oman.

Identity of Chrysomela javanica Thunberg, 1787 (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae, Tenebrionidae)

Jan Bezděk; Luboš Purchart; Kiyoshi Ando

Abstract. Based on a study of holotype, Chrysomela javanica Thunberg, 1787 was proved to be a representative of the genus Tetraphyllus Castelnau & Brullé, 1831 and is therefore transferred from Chrysomelidae to Tenebrionidae. New combination Tetraphyllus javanicus (Thunberg, 1787) (comb. nov.) is proposed. Tetraphyllus javanicus is redescribed and compared with its closest relative T. iridescens Ando, 1991. Colour photos of habitus of the type specimens of both taxa are presented. The checklist for all known species of the genus Tetraphyllus along with their known distribution is given.

A REVIEW OF PALAEARCTIC SCELOLYPERUS (COLEOPTERA: CHRYSOMELIDAE: GALERUCINAE), WITH DESCRIPTION OF S. PERREUS SP. NOV. FROM TURKEY

Jan Bezděk

Abstract Palaearctic species of the genus Scelolyperus Crotch, 1974 (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) are reviewed. Scelolyperus perreus sp. nov. from Turkey is described, illustrated and compared with Palaearctic species. Scelolyperus altaicus ssp. eous (Ogloblin, 1936) is elevated to species rank. Four taxa classified or associated with Scelolyperus are transferred elsewhere: Luperus pseudoaltaicus Medvedev, 1975 and Scelolyperus napolovi Medvedev, 2012 are transferred to Euluperus Weise, 1886; Adimonia glabra Fischer von Waldheim, 1842 is not conspecific with Scelolyperus sericeus (Jacobson, 1894) but belongs to the genus Agelastica Chevrolat, 1836 and A. alni orientalis Baly, 1878 is proposed as its new synonym; forgotten Eugalera seminigra Pic, 1903 is tentatively transferred to Luperus Geoffroy, 1762. The lectotypes are designated for Luperus altaicus ssp. eous and Adimonia glabra . Colour photo of habitus and both male and female genitalia are provided for all Palaearctic Scelolyperus species. Preliminary diagnostic table for Palaearctic “Luperus-like” genera is presented.

Jan Bezděk

Two species groups within the genus Hoplasoma Jacoby, 1884 are defined and revised. The Hoplasoma acuminatum species group is established for H. acuminatum Medvedev, 2000 and H. sumatranum Medvedev, 2000, and the Hoplasoma thailandicum species group for H. thailandicum Kimoto, 1989; H. vithala sp. nov. (Vietnam, Laos, Thailand) and H. andrewesi sp. nov. (Myanmar). Hoplasoma unicolor species group is re-defined. The male of H. acuminatum, to date unknown, is described. Colour photo of habitus and both male and female genitalia are provided for all the species revised. The checklist of all species currently classified in Hoplasoma is provided.
