Abstract The results of potentiometric and voltammetric studies of the interfaces between electrolyte solutions in water and nitroethane are presented. The Galvani potentials and distribution constants of several electrolytes were measured and from these data the ionic components were evaluated. The basic electrochemical properties of the water >nitroethane system were compared with those of the water >nitrobenzene system.

Abstract The results of a streaming method study of selected immiscible water/organic solvent interfaces in the presence of supporting electrolytes, mainly LiCl and tetrabutylammonium tetraphenylborate, are presented. 1,2-Dichloroethane, nitroethane, nitrobenzene and its mixtures with benzene were used as the organic solvents. The Galvani potential of streaming maximum values were found to be less positive than the potentials of the differential capacity minimum. The results and their relationship with the potential of zero charge are discussed in connection with the literature data.

Abstract A mechanically perturbed water-nitrobenzene interface generates an electrical signal (the mechanoelectrical conversion). This paper presents the results of a study devoted to the effect of geometrical structure and the number of aqueous system-nitrobenzene system interfaces placed in a capillary on the output electrical signal. The results are discussed in terms of equivalent circuit of the mercury-aqueous electrolyte solution systems having a similar structure. The studies have been carried out for solutions of three salts (TBABr, NaTPhB, and TBATPhB) in nitrobenzene. It was found that the electromechanical conversion also occurs in the studied systems.
