Advanced process manipulation of magnesia sintering

Imrich Koštial; Jan Spisak; Jan Mikula; Ján Gloček; Pavol Nemčovský; Ján Terpák

Manipulation process is connecting of our macroscopic world to the microscopic or nanoscopic one. Manipulation can occur in a variety of ways. Outside manipulation take control over the process by external forces. Inside process manipulation is becoming a part of the process. This process manipulation is called advanced process manipulation (APM). Possibility of process manipulation may substantially enhance the process effectiveness. In this paper methods of advanced process manipulation are presented. An incremental manipulation process will be defined as a sequence of basic operations. Process manipulation generally requires custom-built system capable of performing of manipulation procedures. The progress in manipulation techniques can extend the application of the manipulated system. We have developed a simulation based system which was successfully implemented for designing of APM systems and control process in ways that are not conventionally possible. The developed system was applied on magnesia sintering process in shaft and rotary furnaces.

The Advanced Technologies Development Trends for the Raw Material Extraction and Treatment Area

Jan Spisak; Miroslav Zelko

Mining organizations operating in todays market face many complex challenges. The continuing globalization of the mining industry means both increased demand and increased competition. This increased demand and strong commodity prices mean that improving productivity of processes is essential, while at the same time needing to control costs and maintain an effective cost profile for the future. To be effective and to keep productivity at optimum levels, the organizations logistics function is crucial. Ensuring continuity of the in-bound supply chain, maintaining service levels, maximize efficiency of outbound logistics, reducing inventory and increasing inventory turns are all essential to maintaining productivity and minimizing costs. In addition to the productivity and logistical challenges, the mining industry is increasingly the focus of public attention with regard to its health and safety and environmental performance. In order to survive and thrive in this dynamic environment, mining companies need powerful and flexible strategies and tools to enhance the way they operate. The EU minerals industry provides vital inputs to Europes economy and social well-being – it is not only an important supplier to the EU economy, it is also a world leader supplier of services, technology, engineering, consultancy, finance and equipment. Because of the high environmental standards and the often challenging geological conditions prevailing in Europe, European extractive technology has a leading position and holds about 50% of the relevant world market. To sustain this position and to ensure next development sustainability an intensive research and development on advanced technologies and high-tech products based on raw materials is needed. In 2008 the European Commission published its new strategic initiative “The raw materials initiative — meeting our critical needs for growth and jobs in Europe”. Raw materials are essential for the sustainable functioning of all societies, so this platform could be a decisive priority for next EU development. The requirement to realize a society development in intension of permanent technological sustainability resulted in many concepts and strategic documents or platforms, among others to The European Technology Platform on Sustainable Mineral Resources (ETP SMR). ETP-SMR unites hundreds of stakeholders from industry, the research community, public authorities, the financial community, regulators, consumers and civil society around

Burners for Rotary Furnace - Proposal and Comparison

Jan Spisak; Dusan Nascak; Branislav Vaňko; Ján Gloček

In the paper are presented the possibility of using axial and radial diffusion burner in rotary furnace. Both types of burners allow secondary air combustion, combustion quality measure is the ratio of primary and secondary flame. Experimental comparison of both types of burners has been performed with the high-revolution rotary furnace. On this basis, benefits have been identified and their use possibilities.

Preheater for Anthracite Carbonization in Rotary Furnaces

Jan Spisak; Branislav Vaňko; Jan Kerekanic; Daniela Cuchtova

Coke production is carried out by coal carbonization. The most frequently used coal is anthracite, which features a very low content of volatile substances that not exceed 7%. Current anthracite production is carried out in rotary furnaces, consists of processes as follows: drying, heating, pyrolysis and calcination. Coke cooling is performed in cooling device located at the end of the furnace. To enhance the performance and reduce the specific heat consumption, use of the preheating device for rotary charge was proposed. The charge granulometry allows using the preheating device based on thin layer principle. Proposed solution was verified by simulations.

Proposal for a New Structure of Enterprise Management Concept for Processing Secondary Raw Materials - Aluminum

Andrej Hačevský; Jan Spisak

From the analysis and synthesis, which consists of a draft of structure of a new enterprise management system concept based on hierarchical balancing optimization model, results clear findings and outputs. The primary benefit is considered to be the fact, that it showed the existence and use of balancing model as a tool for effective management of the production company. This article primarily describes the use of the balance model at the analysis of the production process. HBOM can be involved in the verification process impacts of the individual reversals in the technology and economics of company, at operating in the verification plan, and verification of compliance and reality.

EFFECTIVE USE OF ROTARY FURNACE SHELL HEAT

Július Lišuch; Dušan Dorčák; Jan Spisak

Significant proportion of the total energy expenditure for the heat treatment of raw materials are heat losses through the shell of rotary furnace. Currently, the waste heat is not used in any way and escapes into the environment. Controlled cooling system for rotary furnace shell ( CCSRF ) is a new solution integrated into the technological process aimed at reducing the heat loss of the furnace shell. Based on simulations and experiments carried out was demonstrated a significant effect of controlled cooling shell to the rotary furnace work. The proposed solution is cost-effective and operationally undemanding.

HIGH-REVOLUTION ROTARY FURNACE FOR FINE-GRAINED MATERIALS HEAT TREATMENT

Jan Spisak; Dusan Nascak; Andrej Hacevsky

Innovation is the application of new knowledge and its materialization. Thus it ensures the companys ability to cope with changes in the business environment and the ability to survive in the global competitive environment. As a result, innovation saves natural resources, provides safe and more efficient transport and production. Innovations change the style of work life, place emphasis on the importance of education, creativity, communication and collaboration. However, innovations are associated with a number of problems. They require high costs of the research and development and they face the risks during implementation. This paper describes specific experience with the application of principles and tools of logistics, project management and mainly the application of management system created for the streamlining not only the process of preparation and implementation of the specific innovation project, but also for the streamlining the operation of research and development workplace which implement innovative projects.
