This paper investigates a development of single machine batch scheduling for multi items with dependent processing time. The batch scheduling problem is to determine simultaneously number of batch ( ), which item and its size allocated for each batch, and processing sequences of resulting batches. We use total actual flow time as the objective of schedule performance. The multi item batch scheduling problem could be formulated into a biner-integer nonlinear programming model because the number of batch should be in integer value, the allocation of items to resulting batch need binary values, and also there are some nonlinearity on objective function and constraint due to the dependent processing time. By applying relaxation on the decision variable of number of batch ( ) as parameter, a heuristic procedure could be applied to find solution of the single machine batch scheduling problem for multi items.

Numerical simulation with CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamic) is actually common method for the researches on building aerodynamics. This study is focused on the observation of air movement behavior through large openings of typical high rise buildings in the tropical humid environment. Some values of Cdinlet (discharge coefficient for inlet opening) of each opening for several architectural configurations are obtained. Generally the results show that the value of Cdinlet is not depend on the height of opening but it is influenced by its architectural configuration.

The amount of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Indonesia is larger than large industries but possessed very low competitiveness. In many countries, SMEs have a vital role in supporting the economy so should receive more attention in order to sustain and support the economy of a country. SMEs need to implement the Industrial Engineering (IE) tools from an early stage or planning, process, and marketing that can improve customer satisfaction. Previous researches already done to develop innovative management model to improve SMEs performance using Malcolm Baldrige model but only measured some determinant factors that have the effect on performance and not measured the usage level. This study was done to get measurement models of the usage level of Industrial Engineering Tools and Methods in SMEs. Measurement is to design a scoring system of usage level at Planning and Design, Operation and Control, and Quality and Productivity Improvement. Design method was done by determining the tools in each stage and proceed with setting the usage level and score by using the Malcolm Baldrige concept.

High quality of service is imperative for competitiveness of a service industry. In order to provide much better service, a deeper research on quality service is a necessity. One interesting and challenging aspect in researchin service quality is about measuring service quality. While some methods is proposed for measuring service quality, but every one of them did not offer satisfactory explanation in complex problems of measuring service quality, which is the vagueness and incompleteness in transforming linguistic explanation and scale of one’s opinion into numerical scale. One interesting method that incorporate the complexity and vagueness of linguistic explanation and scale into consideration is Qualitometro II method. This method will handle information expressed on linguistic scales without any artificial numeric scalarization and measure and control the quality of service. An interesting study of implementation of Qualitometro II in general medical clinic is conducted to examine the operation and impact of the Qualitometro II method with the assistance of a qualitometro software to ease the complex calculation algorithm. Result of the implementation is presented and evaluated for further study.
