Abstract We discuss implications of apparent violation of μ−e universality ratio π → e ν π → μν SU(2) × U(1) gauge model with and without righthanded doublets and gauge models based on the exceptinal groups.

Abstract An expression for the Cabibbo angle, θ c , is derived when the mass matrices for the truncated two left-handed doublet model are hermitian and the (1,1) components are zero. The expression contains an unknown parameter which is the difference between the two phases of two complex members in the mass matrices. When the phase difference is 90°, the observed value of θ c is reproduced. We also show that the above mentioned form of the mass matrices can be realized in the Weinberg-Salam model if the Higgs radiative corrections are ignored.
