Equanimity is an essential quality for perioperative nurses

Jeannie Botsford

quanimity is the wonderful quality of remaining calm, E cool, and collected amid the most disordered and adverse situations. Equanimity helps us detach ourselves from chaotic situations and demonstrate evenness of mind when the winds of change swirl around us. As perioperative nurses, our equanimity always has stood out above the other qualities that we bring to our work. I believe it is essential-and possible-for us to demonstrate equanimity in our chaotic work environments if we are to determine our personal and professional survivability.
