Phenylnitrile oxide as well as mesitylnitrile oxide underwent 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions with the 1,3,5-triphosphinines 2 under mild conditions to furnish the condensed heterocyclic compounds 9 and 11, respectively. Oxadiphospholes 14 were accessible by fragmentation reactions of 11.

Organophosphorus Compounds, Part 171. 1λ5,3,5-Triphosphabenzenes by Successive Addition of Lithiumalkyls and Alkyl Halides to Triphospha­benzenes

1,3,5-Triphosphabenzenes 1 react readily with alkyl lithium compounds to give the triphosphininuid salts 7 and 8 through alkylation of one of the phosphorus atoms. Subsequent reaction with primary alkyl halides leads to the formation of 1λ 5 ,3,5-triphosphabenzenes 10 and 11.
