In this paper the determination of transfer functions from inside an Airbus A319 to outside the aircraft in a frequency range from 2 GHz to 8 GHz is presented. Two different aspects have been investigated. The first is the determination of the fuselage attenuation of the aircraft in order to see, if existing airport communications and radar systems could be disturbed by onboard installed equipment. The second concerns possible coupling from inside the aircraft to different relevant aircraft navigation and communication antennas which are mounted outside the aircraft along the fuselage. The different results of these two measurements are presented and possible interferences with existing systems are discussed.

This paper presents extensive electromagnetic transfer path measurements carried out in aircraft with different arrangements of electromagnetic absorbing films in the cabin and cockpit. The results contribute to the understanding of the electromagnetic propagation in the aircraft interior and of the coupling to navigation and communication systems. In addition, the approach of integrating absorbing material to the thermal-acoustic insulation of aircraft is investigated, considering the reduction of undesired coupling to aircraft antennas.

The key aspect of reverberation chambers (RC) is the statistic behavior of the field inside including the influence of the moving, respectively rotating mode stirrer. By means of a vectorial channel sounder presented in this contribution the dynamic influences of the stirrer are investigated with respect to its mechanical relaxation time and its efficiency. Additionally, the ability of vectorial channel sounding allows to simultaneously measure the influence of different antenna orientations and polarizations on time-variant propagation channels investigating spatial-dependent effects in the RC. Measurements are done on a small time scale that is not accessible by standard field probe sampling times. Results also indicate dynamic effects of the RC even for a static case, where the RC may be mechanically excited by external sources, respectively vibrations.
