A trajetória do periódico científico na Fundação Oswaldo Cruz: perspectivas da Biblioteca de Ciências Biomédicas

The article describes the formation of the scientific periodicals collection of the Fundacao Oswaldo Cruz Biomedical Sciences Library. It highlights the collection of rare scientific periodicals that extends from the 18th century to the 20th and encompasses valuable works in the biological sciences and health fields. The work also includes the creation of the institute by Oswaldo Cruz and the organization of the Library and documents the efforts of the Biomedical Sciences Library to promote access to scientific periodicals in different technological formats.

Indicadores de desempenho de bibliotecas no campo da saúde:relato de estudo piloto na Fiocruz

This paper describes the recent efforts of a science and technology health institute to implement a library services evaluation program. Based on the ISO 11620 a team of researchers and librarians have considered a set of performance indicators to be used in its three specialized libraries. The way taken so far and the collaborative process that have been shaping the whole process are described; future challenges are also indicated.

Apontamentos sobre a participação feminina na pesquisa no campo da saúde a partir do acervo de obras raras da Biblioteca de Manguinhos da Fundação Oswaldo Cruz

This article aims to discuss feminine participation in the field of health as from the collection of rare works at the Icict/Fiocruz Manguinhos Library, with the innaugural theses being the first step to plot this path. There are still rare analyses which render account on the use and impact of the theses as source of information for research. Moreover, little is discussed on the descriptive elements of such theses and their bibliographic and bibliological features as rare works, which bear implications upon their description and organization to make them available. This is the discussion carried out here, in the assumption that it be possible to start the description of a feminine path in the field of health sciences as from the digitalization of the material identified , as well as making it available to the scientific community , by means of the Fiocruz Institutional Repository , the ARCA.

Indicadores de desempenho de bibliotecas na Fiocruz: um caminho em construção

A ampla e crescente insercao das tecnologias de informacao e comunicacao (TICs) nos servicos de informacao aponta para a necessidade de adocao de novas abordagens de gestao, especialmente nas bibliotecas academicas. O desafio se avoluma quando se trata do desempenho de bibliotecas em instituicoes complexas, que acolhem diversos espacos de informacao, frutos de praticas, temas e interesses de pesquisa diferenciados. Esse e o caso do Centro de Informacao Cientifica e Tecnologica (Cict), unidade tecnica da Fundacao Oswaldo Cruz (Fiocruz), instituicao que ocupa papel de lideranca no cenario internacional no campo da pesquisa em saude. Partindo da Norma ISO 11620, o presente trabalho relata o desenvolvimento e o caminho ate aqui percorrido por um projeto de pesquisa que objetiva a escolha de um conjunto de indicadores de desempenho aplicaveis a tres diferentes bilbiotecas especializadas do Cict. Performance indicators of libraries at Fiocruz:a building-up path Abstract The increasing impact of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in the traditional libraries, especially in academic ones, has point to the necessity of taking in new management approaches. The challenge is even more complex for research institutions that encompass various specialized libraries as a result of different researches interests and social practices. The lack of unified evaluation methods has undermined any attempt to introduce modern management techniques. In searching for a standard for library performance measurement, the Scientific and Technological Health Information Center – Cict/FIOCRUZ took the ISO 11620 as starting point of a research project for work out the conception, methodology and criteria of assessment of the three different specialized libraries which are under its coordination.
