Presentation of Case First admission. A 78-year-old man entered the hospital because of symptoms of prostatic obstruction. Fourteen years previously transurethral resection of the prostate gland had been performed at another hospital. Five years before admission he came to this hospital because of recurrent symptoms of bladder-neck obstruction. The urea nitrogen was 15 mg, and the creatinine 1.3 mg per 100 ml. An intravenous pyelographic study showed poor function bilaterally, with decrease in the size of the left kidney. Cystoscopic examination revealed enlargement of the lateral lobes of the prostate gland and hemorrhagic cystitis. Retrograde examination of the left .xa0.xa0.
