Comparison with Perception of Interaction between Finishing Materials and Lighting according to Preference of one`s Spatial Sensitivity

Ji-Eun Seo

The purpose of this study is to analyze the change of perception and to measure the degree of interaction between the lighting and the finishing materials according to preference types and the impacted factors to the spatial sensitivity of users. To do that, the this change was grasped through the experiment with Likert Scale and ANOVA of SPSS program to the simulated images. The result of this study is as following. Firstly, the personal difference in the perception of space comes from ‘attention’ in information processing process. The degree of the perception of users change strongly by lighting in the space expressed the ‘modern natural’. Secondly, the atmosphere and the degree of perception are different in the preference of users to the spatial sensitivity and in impacted factors which are thought by users in the space sensitives. The users who prefer the ‘decoration’ feel the mood more strongly in the space. But the users who prefer the ‘active’ and ‘intimacy’ are opposite to that. The difference to the degree of perception is greater in the ‘classic natural’ than the others under the lighting turns on. Thirdly, an in-depth research which is considered of the interaction among the various factors is needed for finding the design methods for inducing the sensitivity of users in the space. And the ranking of the impacted factors should be understanded and applied to the research regarding the changes of perception in the space. Finally, this study has the limitation to be adapted to all of the situation for the space design methods. But this will be a basic data to study the design methods for users’s sensitivity in the space.

A Study on the Expression Method and Characteristics of Ecology Design in Commercial Space

Jin-Young Lee; Ji-Eun Seo

In the commercial space, the modern consumers want to consume not only product but also culture. Thus, the modern commercial space tries to induce the customer`s concern and purchase to the differentiated design. The introduction of this `the natural element` delivers the pleasure and stability to the consumer buying process and availability is enlarged. Therefore, the purpose of study is gain that expression and characteristic method of the natural element in the commercial space. The detailed study method are as follows. First, the study looks into the natural element expression tendency in the modern space. Second, the expression type of the natural element was classified as `Reappearance`, `Transformation`, and `Fuse` based on the preceding research. And according to the content of the expression type, subdivided method of `Inclusion` and `Replication` of `Reappearance` and method of `Imitation` and `Association` of `Transformation` and method of `Juxtaposition` and `Combine` of `Fuse`. Third, the result of analyze the characteristic of expression of the natural element of the besides the commercial space case 20 place is as follows. First, `Inclusion` of `Reappearance` introduced the external scenery or planned garden as the inside through the opening. `Replication` is used for decorative purposes or functional purposes as the natural element. `Imitation` of `Transformation` imitated the form, pattern, and color of the natural element and was mainly expressed in the wall and objet. The method of `Association` expressed the concept of the natural element for the whole of the space and a portion of the wall and objet repetitively. As for `Juxtaposition`, mixture of `Reappearance` had a good visual effect, because it can be obtained the external-internal nature. As for `Combine`, mixture of `Replication` and `Imitation` was the most common method. Thus, the study results are expected to be utilized as base date in designing the commercial with development of the natural element application method.

A Study on Space of Conversion Communication Method through Materials in Commercial Space - Focusing on Domestic and International Commercial Spaces in 2008~2012 -

Ju-Yeon Ji; Ji-Eun Seo

Commercial spaces are very sensitive in terms of trend and uniqueness, and many elements expressing space coexist together with brilliant ideas aiming to attract consumer attention and even induce sudden desire of purchase. Coexistence in space is expressed in various ways and out of those ways, representation by material is especially apparent. The application of material does not individually influence the expression of space, but the characteristics of multiple materials applied contribute to the distinction of space through mutual communication. This study intends to analyze how conversion is centered to express the distinction of space through materials communicated in space. The detailed study results are as follows. First, the conversion expression method of material resulted as `Substitution`, `Contrast`, `Assimilation`, `Creation`. These four was divided and analyzed into `Time`, `Space`, `Genre`. As a result of this analysis, such significances were shown as `Contrast` in `Time`, `Substitution` in `Space`, and `Assimilation` in `Genre`. Second, the conflict due to heterogeneity by conversion of `Contrast` in `Time` through past and current materials appeared to induce interest amongst consumers. Third, within `Space`, `Substitution` of natural/artificial materials was noticeably applied. This is evaluated as a constructive way of expressing natural forms into artificial forms further intending to provoke attention and stimulate emotion. Fourth, in conversion through `Assimilation` in `Genre`, rather than using materials only from other areas, synchronizing it by combining architectural materials is an effective method. Such results are thought to be a distinctive design method that draws attention of customers by communicating disparate materials in commercial space. Thus, the study results are expected to be utilized as an elementary resource in designing commercial space with character and high satisfaction.
