A Practical Architecture of Cloudification of Legacy Applications

Dunhui Yu; Jian Wang; Bo Hu; Jianxiao Liu; Xiuwei Zhang; Keqing He; Liang-Jie Zhang

Cloud computing has been attracting much attention since its birth. How to cloudify software systems especially legacy applications in the cloud era is becoming increasingly important. Based on RGPS meta-model framework and International standards-ISO/IEC 19763, an architecture for cloudification of legacy applications is proposed, which consists of three parts: a Web portal, a SaaS service supermarket, and a SaaS application development platform. In this paper, we take an open source software as an example to illustrate the proposed approach. Based on the architecture and supporting techniques on software virtualization and multi-tenancy, we develop a prototype Cloud CRM to demonstrate the basic procedure for cloudification of legacy applications, as well as the feasibility of the proposed approach.

A Clustering Method for Web Service Discovery

Jianxiao Liu; Keqing He; Jian Wang; Da Ning

With the development of web service applications, how to improve the efficiency of service discovery is an important research work in modern times. From the aspect of service function, this paper clusters web services to form service clusters based on service ontology which is generated by domain modeling. It can significantly reduce the overhead and enhance the service discovery efficiency. The corresponding service clustering algorithm and experiments are given to verify the feasibility of the proposed method.

As one of the fundamental technologies in cloud computing, services computing is playing a critical role to enable provisioning of software as a service (SaaS). However, how to effectively and efficiently develop and deploy personalized SaaS and enterprise mashups on the cloud platforms remain a big research challenge. SaaS developers and researchers may adopt certain strategies by leveraging existing services available in the cloud and using model driven approach. They can compose and design new value-added services as on-demand SaaS and enterprise mashup applications deployed on cloud platform. In this paper, we propose an On-Demand Service-Oriented Model Driven Architecture (ODSOMDA) approach that involves adding Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) elements into MDA to realize the model transformation based on a Role&Goal-Process-Service (RGPS) meta-model. The meta-level analysis of MDA is applied to facilitate construction of SaaS and mashup applications through three-layer automatic (semi-automatic) model transformation. Finally, we develop an enterprise mashup prototype as a practical case study to prove the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

A Multi-dimensional Social Tagging Method for Semantic Web Services

Da Ning; Keqing He; Rong Peng; Jianxiao Liu

Social tagging has become a popular solution for recognition and management of resources in web2.0 era. To solve the current problem of insufficient capacity of semantic description of web services, a multi-dimensional social tagging method for semantics of web services is proposed. Under the guidance of general social tagging model, users will annotate services manually from the domain the services attribute to, services theme and self reference, and simultaneously, the functional and nonfunctional properties of the services are automatically tagged, so that the semantic description coverage rate of web services will be enhanced, Moreover, a method of service semantics emerge automatically is proposed. Finally, experimental analysis will verify the feasibility and effectiveness of this method.

A kind of Web service semantic matching method based on relation-property

Jianxiao Liu; Keqing He; Jian Wang; Da Ning

With the increasing number of Web service applications, how to accurately find the services to meet the needs is one of the key issues of the study at this stage. For the problem of low accuracy in Web services discovery, this paper presents a Web service semantic matching method—MSURAP. This method not only makes use of the basic reasoning relationship between concepts and does refinement of this relationship, but also compares the concepts properties, instances and so on. Then do the integrated computing and this method improves the accuracy of the concept matching. Based on MSURAP, the paper also talks about the Web service semantic matching. The experiment shows MSURAP improves the precision rate of Web services in the condition of not influencing the efficiency of services discovery.
