An immersed type evaporative cooling electromagnetic separator is presented, including the prototypes configuration, procedures and outcomes of the temperature distribution simulation, as well as the results by experimental research. The comparison between the stimulation and experimental study show that the simulation methods are accurate; meanwhile, the evaporative cooling technique is an effective way for larger capacity electromagnetic separator

A prototype of permanent magnet direct-driven wind power generator with evaporative cooling system and air cooling system is proposed in this paper. According to the characteristics of fluid field and thermal field, a three dimension equivalent physical model is established for this generator to simulate the entire fluid field and thermal field by conjugated thermal transfer method. As the calculation results, the air velocity distribution and temperature distribution of stator iron and coils are given in this paper, and the calculation results prove that this combination of evaporative cooling system and air cooling system is helpful for permanent magnet direct-driven wind power generator.

As heat flux densities grow higher, the evaporative cooling system seems to be the most effective way of removing heat from high current rectifier equipment. In order to validate the evaporative cooling system can substitute the water cooling in engineering application and get the actual operational effect, also to provide the DC power supply demands for 200MW turbo-generator model, the high current rectifier equipment with self-circulation evaporative cooing system is designed. The temperature distribution characteristics are discussed. The experimental results show that the high current rectifier equipment with the evaporative cooling system has the advantage of high efficiency, energy-saving, high-reliability, low operational cost.

A novel high-reliability DC generator system integrating flux-switching machine with segmental rotor, of which both armature and excited windings are located in the stator, rectifier and excitation controller was proposed in this paper. At first, the working principle of SFSM and the DC generator was introduced in detail. Further, a prototype was designed based on finite element analysis of flux-switching machine with segmental rotor, analysis of working modes of the excitation main circuit topology and the closed loop control strategy. At last, a platform was built and the experiment study including static and dynamic state characteristic was conducted. The experimental result proved the design and analysis above well.

A prototype of vertical ring high gradient magnetic separator was designed and fabricated, and the exciting coils, which generate a 1.5 Tesla background magnetic field, are cooled by evaporative cooling system. The operating magnetic flux density distribution was computed carefully by magnetic circuit method and finite element method, and the operating temperature distribution of exciting coils was computed too by finite element method. The test values of the distribution of magnetic flux density and temperature are in accord with design computations.

The condenser is the key component for the evaporative cooling system of hydro-generators. And the over-all heat transfer coefficient is primary standard to judge the condensers performance. In order to more comprehensively understand the evaporative cooling system and evaluate the condensers work efficiency, it is important to calculate the over-all heat transfer coefficient of the condenser. In our works the over-all heat transfer was calculated in each stage and a kind of calculational methods was brought forward, thus the over-all heat transfer which is a value related to a process was proved.
