Fuzzy logic based Decision Support System framework for irrigation scheduling

Jignesh Patel; Himanshu K. Patel; Chetan Bhatt

Decision Support System (DSS) is computerized tool to provide decision for partially known system. DSS for agriculture system gains popularity in recent past. Irrigation scheduling is one of the important aspects for profitably and sustainability in agriculture system. One of the widely used irrigation scheduling approach is ‘Water Balance Approach’ as it does not requires highly accurate and costly sensors for soil moisture, canopy temperature, and leaf thickness. However, implementation of this method involves extensive computation and accurate measurement of large numbers of variables. In agriculture system, it is seldom possible to get accurate measurement values of necessary variables. This paper proposes fuzzy logic based DSS framework for irrigation scheduling. It is proposed to use fuzzy rule base for soil characterization, calculation of evapotranspiration, and estimation of root zone. Use of fuzzy logic helps to reduce computation requirements as well as eliminates need of accurate measurement of parameters.

Simulation & analysis of three phase voltage source inverter using four semiconductor switches

Yashita Bhadauria; Ankit Patel; Vinod Patel; Jignesh Patel

This paper analyzes the application of Sine Triangle pulse width Modulation (SPWM) and Space Vector pulse width Modulation (SVM) scheme for a three phase voltage source inverter using four semiconductor switches. Elimination of two switches will reduce cost, complexity, size and switching losses of the system. In this paper equations are developed for the application of both the switching schemes on Four Switch Three Phase Inverter (FSTPI). Simulation verification is carried out in PSIM and results are shown in agreement with the analysis.

LabVIEW based 'nonlintool' for analysis and design of nonlinear control system

Hiral A. Patel; Jignesh Patel

This paper presents LabVIEW based Graphical User Interface (GUI) tool called as ‘nonlintool’. The tool provides much needed user friendly computational platform for nonlinear control system as there are very few endeavours found on computer aided tool for analysis and design of nonlinear control system. The tool is useful for analysis and design of nonlinear control system. The tool offers user friendly computational platform for the study of nonlinear control system. It has capability to carry the analysis and design for almost all type of discrete (or discontinuous) and continues nonlinearities. It aims to provide quick and effective means for the understanding of behaviour of nonlinear systems. The different modules integrated in the tool to analyse the discrete type nonlinearity with phase plane trajectory and continuous type nonlinearity with linearization. The tool enables the user to investigate the stability of the system and help to proceed for the design of nonlinear control system. The tool is converted in to executable file to make it open source package.

Review of modulation schemes for loss analysis in inverters

Apurva Tatu; P. N. Kapil; Vinod Patel; Jignesh Patel

This paper compares two widely used modulation techniques Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM) and Space Vector Modulation (SVM) with reference to the losses of a three phase two level inverter. The losses are evaluated by analytical, simulation and by loss simulator (Melcosim) by the device manufacturer. The analytical loss calculation has been carried out using datasheet parameters. Simulation has been done for R-L load. The modulation techniques are also compared in terms of harmonic spectrum, DC bus utilization and Common Mode Voltage (CMV).

Design and implementation of robust Multirate Output feedback based Sliding Mode Controller for Induction Motors using FPGA

Vini Tuteja; Jignesh Patel; Axay Mehta

This paper demonstrates design of Multirate Output feedback(MROF) based Discrete-time Sliding Mode Controller(DSMC) for sensorless control of Induction Motor(IM) implemented using System Generator (SysGen). A multirate output technique is used to estimate the state variables of Induction Motor. For designing the observer and controller, a linearised model is used. The efficacy of the scheme is shown in the simulation result.

Industrial Internet of Thing Based Smart Process Control Laboratory: A Case Study on Level Control System

Alpesh Patel; Rohit Singh; Jignesh Patel; Harsh Kapadia

This paper tells us about the smart process control laboratory in which the concept of industrial internet of things (IIOT) is implemented on laboratory-scale trainer kit. A case study of level control trainer is discussed along with implementation and results. PID control algorithm is implemented in order to control level of water in the tank. Today, IIoT is an emerging technology that brought the control and automation on the platform of IoT, i.e., the control and monitoring of sensors and actuator is done from remote location. This example is relatively for home automation where the mobile devices comes into the picture. The device challenges and requirements of the systems are discussed. The software platform chosen is NI LabVIEW through which the application data dashboard is used in mobile devices to communicate with the process computer.

An Intelligent Real Time IoT Based System (IRTBS) for Monitoring ICU Patient

Bharat Prajapati; Satyen M. Parikh; Jignesh Patel

Internet of Things (IoT) enable humans to get higher level of automate by developing system using sensors, interconnected devices and Internet. In ICU, patient monitoring is critical and most important activity, as small delay in decision related to patients’ treatment may cause permanent disability or even death. Most of ICU devices are equipped with various sensors to measure health parameters, but to monitor it all the time is still challenging job. We are proposing IOT based system, which can help to fast communication and identifying emergency and initiate communication with healthcare staff and also helps to initiate proactive and quick treatment. This health care system reduces possibility of human errors, delay in communication and helps doctor to spare more time in decision with accurate observations.
