Infra-red (IR) systems are popularly used. However, they are not able to perform well under even poor weather with fog, clouds and light drizzle, which are effectively transparent at millimeter wavelength. In this paper we introduced a theoretically analyzing model of focal plane array for millimeter wave imaging system, which is similar to the IR and optical one. Based on this model we calculated and simulated the imaging process combined with Plancks black body radiation principles. Meanwhile the noise and atmosphere flow are also considered. Then super resolution algorithm (Lucy-Richardson (L-R) algorithm) is applied to restore the poor image

The problem of identification of friend-or-foe aircraft in the actual application condition is addressed. A hybrid algorithm combining fuzzy neutral network with probability factor (FNNP), multi-level fuzzy comprehensive evaluation and the Dempster-Shafer (D-S) theory is proposed. This hybrid algorithm constructs a complete process from generating the fuzzy database to the final identification, realizes the identification of friend-or-foe automatically if the training samples or experts experience can be obtained, and reduces the effect of uncertainties in the process of identification. At the same time, the whole algorithm can update the identification result with the augment of observations. The performance of the proposed algorithm is assessed by simulations. Results show that the proposed algorithm can successfully deduce the aircrafts identity even if the observations have measurement errors.

Passive millimeter wave imaging radar systems provide advantages over the optical and infra-red (IR) systems, especially under the poor weather with fog, clouds and light drizzle which are effectively transparent at millimeter wavelength. Due to the higher diffraction in millimeter wave range, the images are often acquired with poor resolution. In order to enhance these images and recover the spatial resolution, super resolution algorithms are often applied. In this paper, we presented and calculated the ideal imaging process of millimeter wave focal plane array imaging radar systems and developed an image regulation technique. Examples of applying our technique will be given and the results seem to be promising
