Novel Approaches in Mathematical Description of Hen Egg Geometry

Libor Severa; Jaroslav Buchar; Jiří Čupera

Precise quantification of the profile of a hen egg can provide a powerful tool for analysis of egg shape and following solving of various technological problems. The article presents a new approach of the eggshell geometry determination using and analyzing the egg digital image and edge detection techniques. The detected points on the eggshell contour were fitted by the Fourier series. The obtained equations describing an egg profile were used to calculate the egg volume, surface area, and radius of curvature with a much higher degree of precision in comparison with previously published approaches. It was shown that radii of curvature at the critical points of the egg profile are independent on the egg shape index. The article shows and quantifies the limitations of the common and frequent procedures. This author is deceased.

Abstract The article describes the potential for using data from the CAN- or ISO- bus for tractor pulling tests. The testing techniques consisted of both field and laboratory tests; thus, each engine was tested in the laboratory before the field pulling tests. Values of CAN were validated by external instrumentation and their reliability with respect to the true values was analyzed. A significant degree of error was determined at low engine load; thus, for higher precision under the field conditions, it was necessary to use a regression function. The model was verified and its resulting uncertainty was calculated, which led to the conclusion that it is inadequate to take only the data from CAN into account if no further statistical processing is performed.

Jak je z výsledku dále patrné má majoritní vliv na změnu výstupních parametrů i seřízení motoru resp. vstřikované dávky Abstract This article deals with the monitoring of automobile engine output parameters when running on biofuel E85. Two vehicles and one engine were chosen for the analysis. Experimental measurements were performed on these vehicles using a chassis dynamometer. The engine was tested using an eddy current dynamometer at the engine test laboratory. Petrol type Natural 95 (BA95) was used as the reference fuel. The vehicles were equipped with the additional conversion kits. The adjustment of the engine was performed using a programmable control unit. All measurements were performed using static methods. Fuel consumption, engine output and engine efficiency were among the parameters evaluated. The measurement results show the positive impact of ethanol on combustion processes with respect to all engines evaluated. The results also indicate that the adjustment of the engine, more precisely injected amount, has the main influence on the output parameters.

Abstract This paper deals with designing the conversion of a common on-road quad equipped with spark ignition engine to a pure electric drive. The aim of the development work was to create a design solution without making significant changes to the chassis. We considered several variants of powertrain installation. In general, two possibilities of electric drive design are used. Typically, the electric drive is mounted in place of an IC engine. Slow moving vehicles may have electric drives installed in the rims. We tested both variants. Therefore, to determine the properties of the mentioned variants we had to carry out simulation tests on a chassis dynamometer as well as road load tests. The main testing procedures consisted of driving cycles with the monitoring of electric parameters. Important values such as driving force, running speed, calculated power, battery voltage and used current were acquired. A fundamental part of the testing also consisted of monitoring the durability of the used Li-Pol batteries, and the reliability of the charging system with the support of regenerative braking.
