AGRIS – A Portal with Decision Support System for Agribusiness

The organisation and design of the “Web Portal AGRIS” is specifically aimed at the Czech young countryside population. AGRIS helps farmers and entrepreneurs in providing support for both short and long-term decision-making. The portal is developed in the Internet environment and contains tools and services based on principles of DSS: it has its own database and provides access to relevant external databases, it has software tools, educational courses, on-line advisory services, and was developed to be extremely user-friendly. The databases has many different layers of data and a complex set of tools offers 10 Web-courses in Management Science and relevant software packages, which contribute to farmers and entrepreneurs decision-making and improve their entrepreneurship. Dynamic and flexible case studies illustrate the process of decision support and help the users to develop and provide their own models and use them for decision-making support. The feed back collected through the portal indicates the usefulness of the service provided to the community. It will be used to further improve the website and develop more tools to support its users.
